For those of y'all not In The Know, this strategy is called F.E.A.R.

Focus sash Endeavor Attack, quick Rattata

And everyone hates it

For those who don’t know how this works, or only have a slight grasp on what happens, how it works is more or less the following:

The Rattata is purposefully as low a level as possible (Level 1) to guarantee any attacking move would either KO it or leave it with 1 HP (in the case of False Swipe and Hold Back)

The Focus Sash is essentially an item version of the ability Sturdy - if the Pokemon holding it is at full HP, it will survive the hit it takes with 1 HP remaining

This sets up a Rattata that, no matter what attack hits it in the first round, it will have 1 HP remaining

Endeavor is a move that damages the opponent to make their HP the same as the user’s

This leaves the opponent with 1 HP when used by the Focus Sash holding, Level 1 Rattata (which is guaranteed to hit last because it can’t possibly outspeed something such a better level than it, thus meaning it can do so before the opponent lands a second attack)

Quick Attack will always hit first, unless there is a move with higher priority (very unlikely). Since no attacking move can do 0 without not effecting the opponent, this attack takes off the final 1 HP and KOs the opponent

Some anesthesiologists will refuse to put you under if you’ve smoked cannabis within the past 24 hours – and let’s be clear, this is NOT because they’re morally against it – it’s because THC and anesthetic react in unpredictable ways and waking up in the middle of surgery is slightly less of a concern than SLIPPING INTO A COMA OR DYING.

Yes, this too. Should have included this. It just wasn’t on my mind when I made the original post because my mind was full of NOPE NOPE NOPE after, you guessed it, one of my patients woke up in the middle of her surgery because she didn’t tell her anesthesia team she used marijuana.
