I competed in my first pole competition last Saturday, and I am SO proud of the result. The most important thing for me was to go out there, do what I'd planned, and to give a memorable show - and I did. Beside that, I ranked 6th in my category, which I am proud of, as the competition was incredibly tough. My category was "beginners", which includes everyone who've trained less than 2 years (I've been at it for 1 year and 4 months), and the winner was doing deadlift after deadlift. As you may notice I was heavily inspired by The Pole Actor - Danielle Romano, and Heidi Coker.

This girl is 11. I didn’t much care for the last popular video of a competition routine she did, but this. Shows so much. Growth. Not only are all of her moves INSANE (and I must get the studio ASAP to figure out if any of them are even close to possible in my body) but it’s actually really interesting to watch. I love her ground movement. Also, that costume reminds me of the Legend of Zelda and I lurve it. So much.

Fish flop without knee pads!

So always try this on a crash mat if you’ve never done it before. My progression was crash mat, knee pads, soft floor, hard floor. I smashed my knees and hip so many times learning it. Be careful! There needs to be a lot of control over the fall out of this move for obvious reasons.
