So the creator titled this "Caveman Cooking," but I have decided that it is Grug the Orc making Peanut Butter Squares. Link to original post.
Sound on. Trust me.

ITāS NOT PITCH BLACK AT 4 PM ANYMORE
The original blogger is based in a country where, on winter solstice, the sun sets between ~3 PM and never because it didnāt come up in the first place DD: However, this experience is far from universal. Here is a version for everyone who lives in a country worth existing in:
IT WAS NEVER PITCH BLACK AT 4 PM TO BEGIN WITH
Moving to Scotland was arguably the worst thing I did for my SAD... But honestly the fact the sun stays up so long in summer is wonderful. I love it. It's light at 11pm. You can do stuff with your evenings, in daylight. Yes the sun goes down at like 3:30pm in December but this is the price to be paid....
People forget how far north much of the UK is, because the UK has a weird island climate that is warmed by the Atlantic Gulf stream it's so much milder and wetter than most of the places on the same latitude. Northerly parts of Scotland are on the same latitude as southern parts of Finland, and the UK is generally as far North as Canada. Where I am in Scotland (and much more of it besides) in summer, it never technically gets dark enough to count as "night", with 17:37 hours of daylight and the rest is twilight. I'm not saying Scotland is "far North" but the UK is a lot further North than a lot of people realise, and also everyone here should take vitamin D tablets you'll feel better I promise.
Sound ON. :->

Get rid of your fucking Ring cameras holy shit. That was one of the most chilling ads Iāve ever seen
š°š°š°š°š°
For anyone confused about why this "sweet ad" is actually evil:
ring is passing the surveillance they collect to ice
ring is using these ID features to search for/identify people that ice wants to deport/kidnap/disappear, & using it to spy on Americans in general.
This ad is the company's gross & sneaky attempt to appeal to humans' kindness [ I'll be helping people find their pets!" ]
They are trying to trick more people into buying this tool that will be used as surveillance on people living in the USA
AND~!!!
also probably trying to trick people into turning on features/settings that will make it easier for them to pass information to ice and other hostile governmental authorities
Itās funny to me when people will gladly write out brutal torture, and understand that fiction is not the same thing as reality, but absolutely baulk at any kind of sexual violence being included in fiction.
Like yeah Iāll write my little guy being skinned alive in agonizing detail but NONCON NUDITY???? YOUāRE A REAL SICK FUCK THATāS TAKING IT TOO FAR. THE PANTS STAY ON FOR THE SKINNING!!!
Itās interesting to see where that line is for people. I can absolutely sympathize with feeling like sexual violence is more deeply violating in a way thatās difficult to explain. If youāre uncomfortable with reading it, thatās absolutely valid!
Whatās odd to me though is how people will be fully on board in understanding that writing violence doesnāt mean you would support those actions in real life, but as soon as sex is introduced, then youāre a bad person for writing it and surely must support it in real life. There are whump writers here who go out of their way to shun noncon whump writers and protest noncon whump with everything they do, thatās how much they hate it.
A lot of those same people like all the chapters of my noncon whump as they read it. They keep their likes private so no one notices, and often unlike it once they are done reading. People who are very publicly against noncon whump without anyoneās prompting, even people who base their entire presence in the whump community as morally objectionable to any noncon whump. Why do they do this to themselves?
Where is the line of acceptability? Why does that line symbolize a crossover into pure moral objectivity? What explanations and defenses for enjoying whump exist that canāt be applied in the exact same way to noncon whump? Why is this fiction okay, but this other fiction isnāt?
I think back on a bit from The Body of Christopher Creed where the main character puzzles over the depictions of Jesus being crucified. Here is a horrific image, of a body left on display after being tortured to death in a way that many criminals were. Normalized in art, in jewelry, in stained glass, in statues too numerous to begin counting. Itās deemed appropriate to see this violence on display in public all around the world where Christianity has invaded.
Typically, you can see the wounds in his hands and his feet. And the stab wound under his breast. And the crown of thorns on his head. Sometimes, depending on the detail, the lines in his back from where he was whipped. But you know what? Jesus, as well as all the other criminals subjected to crucifixion, was crucified naked. Yet the depictions of him, time and time again, show his genitals covered - by loincloth, leaves, or smoothed over like a Ken doll.
Why is violence more acceptable to depict than nudity? Normal, nonsexual nudity. Everyone has some form of genitalia. Not everyone has a mortal wound. Violence is more appropriate to be displayed in public and in church, than natural human anatomy. Why is that? I know it seems a long extrapolation from being against noncon whump, but the concept Iām pressing on here is how depictions of grievous violence can be considered appropriate while nudity and sex are deemed inappropriate.
Thereās a funny line that humans draw there. Is there a real moral reasoning behind it? Or is it based on feelings? Where do people in the whump community stand on the political censorship of sexual content, consensual or not, as a wave of online censorship comes down the pipeline in so many countries? Should whump be censored? Should noncon whump be censored? How can someone justify censorship of noncon whump, but not other violent whump?
I donāt know. Just musing. Thoughts welcome, but if youāre just going to try to tell me off, save yourself the effort. I donāt feel a need to defend myself, I just think itās interesting how divided the community is on it, for one taboo subject vs another.
If I may be lairy on main, I have just discovered that someone from my workshop group has almost certainly (I say this because perhaps - perhaps! - it is possible to write with the exact cadence, vocabulary and structure as ChatGPT output, even if your day job is literally working for an AI 'outreach' and 'equity' company!) been feeding people's work into AI to generate her 'feedback', and lads, I'm trying to be cool about this and approach it correctly by informing the tutor and letting them handle it, but I am, to put it mildly, somewhat fucking irked. Not only does it completely go against the entire ethos of the group, which is to workshop other people's stuff and then have them workshop yours in a reciprocal, safe space, and not only is the 'feedback' literally just a third person summary of the piece under a nonsensical collection of unrelated headings and bullet points with nothing actionable, whereas I wrote her a solid 1,000 words of genuine, fully engaged feedback, but more importantly, none of us consented to having our works in progress fed through the plagiarism machine. It's just like... fab, amazing, thanks babe, much appreciated, and also fuuuuuuuuck.
I'm going to lose my mind, because at the start of the session, this person admitted that she completely forgot to read someone's submission this week, but then miraculously she managed to read all 3,000 words of it in our 5 minute break, and had produced an entire page of 'notes' which she proceeded to read from her screen, including gems like 'the descriptive prose focuses on the granularity of identity'
