Cider and comics. Relaxing on this nice day
âYou read too much Anheg,â Aunt Pol said. Anheg laughed again. "It passes the time, Polgara,â he said. âThe alternative is drinking with my Earls my stomachs getting a little delicate for that- and my ears as well. Have you any idea of how much noise a hall half full of drunk Chereks can make? My books donât shout or boast and they donât fall down or slide under the tables and snore. Theyâre much better company really.â âFoolishness,â Aunt Pol said. âWeâre all foolish at one time or another,â Anheg said philosophically.â
â Pawn of Prophecy, by David Eddings
âWise are you, indeed, to know what is not possible before you have made the attempt.â
â Belgarath     - Castle of Wizardry by David Eddings
this is more or less how i picture Barak and Merel and their family.Â
ââI was reading an old text on the exploits of Belgarath the Sorcerer, and I -â Senji stopped, going very pale, turned and gaped at Garionâs grandfather. âItâs a terrible letdown, isnât it?â Beldin said. âWe always told him he ought to look more impressiveâ âYouâre in no position to talk,â the old man said. âYouâre the one with the earthshaking reputation.â Beldin shrugged. âIâm just a flunky. Iâm along for comic relief.ââ
â Seeress of Kell - David Eddings
ââYou keep talking about Torakâs father,â Zakath said, looking puzzled.'I didnât know that the Gods had fathersâ. 'Of course They do,â Ce'Nedra said lofity. 'Everybody knows that.â 'I didnât.â 'UL is their father,â she said in a deliberate off-hand manner. 'isnât He the God of the Ulgos?â 'Not by chance exactly,â Belgarath told him. 'The original Gorim more or less bullied Him into it.â 'How do you bully a God?â 'Carefully,â said Beldin. 'Very, very carefully.â 'Iâve met UL,â Ce'Nedra supplied gratuitously. 'He sort of likes me.â 'She can be very irritating at times, canât she?â Zakath said to Garion.â 'Youâve noticed.â 'You donât have to like me,â she said with a toss of her curls, 'either one of you. As long as the Gods like a girl sheâll do all right.ââ

Reasons you should read the Belgariad
â Very archetypical fantasy but itâs subverted and lampshaded every chance Eddings gets (thereâs a particularly brilliant moment that tears the bikini armor trope to shreds) and there are some hilarious (and serious) meta moments âThe romance is very very well done; no relationship in the series is perfect, but none of them seem forced, even the one thatâs stated as âgoing to happenâ from the very beginning by the narrativeâwhich is an entity within the story, mind youâand the charactersâ chemistry speaks for itself. âThereâs an entire sub-arc where the kings leave their wives to govern their kingdoms while they go off to war and the wives kick ass politically âThe politics are immensely detailed but Eddings pulls it off effortlessly âPolgara. Polgara in her entirety. âJust read it I tell you
Character study 1/3 - Silk and Barak [David Eddings, The Belgariad]
ââMy Lord, I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offense against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fir which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornement for a human face. Is it possible that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?ââ
â Mandorallen - (Belgariad/Malloreon - David Eddings)
Hey, fantasy nerds, I did a thing
torak: i have stolen the orb of aldur
belgarath: you fucked up a perfectly good rock is what you did. look at it. itâs got anxiety.
âBeldin scratched at his tangled hair. âI never really got the straight of it,â he admitted. âAll I know is that the Alorns are following that little redheaded Tolnedran. She calls herself the Rivan Queen - whatever that means.â âCe'Nedra?â Garion was incredulous, though, for some reason, he knew that he shouldnât be. âI guess she went through Arendia like a pestilence,â Beldin continued. âAfter she passed, there wasnât an able-bodied man left in the kingdom. Then she went on down into Tolnedra and goaded her father into convulsions - I didnât know that he was subject to fits.â âIt crops up in the Borune line once in a while,â Belgarath said. âItâs nothing all that serious, but they try to keep it quiet.â âAnyway,â the hunchback went on, âwhile Ran Borune was still frothing at the mouth, his daughter stole his legions. Sheâs persuaded about half the world to take up arms and follow her.â He gave Garion a quizzical look. âYouâre supposed to marry her, arenât you?â Garion nodded, not trusting himself to speak. Beldin grinned suddenly. âYou might want to give some thought to running away.â âCe'Nedra?â Garion blurted again. âHis wits seem a bit scrambled,â Beldin observed. âHeâs been under a strain, and his nerves arenât too good just now,â Belgarath replied.â

Reblog if you're in the David Eddings fandom.
I would really love to be able to geek out with someone about some of my favorite fantasy books.
Belgariad/Malloreon
Elenium/Tamuli
Any related books. I just really enjoy David Eddings ok.
Frustrated
I normally reshare things I like on this but Iâm feeling extremely frustrated and defeated and wanted to get this off my chest.
Why is it that people say they are assholes, make comments to hurt you and belittle you (obvious comments might I add), remarks that have evident accusations but they say they arenât accusing you of anything, and then stand there staring at you when you get upset or cry? As if they did nothing wrong. There is a fine line between being an ass and being cruel.
Iâm doing the best I can. For myself. Not for anyone else. Iâm making small changes because I understand and realize I need to change myself for the better. Just because itâs not what you want or because itâs not fast enough, doesnât mean Iâm failing. Everyone has their own pace.
Iâm glad I decided to post this because as I type, my frustration and hurt is shifting to anger and outrage. No one has the right to tell you how or when to change. That is your choice. Changing for someone els is temporary. Changing for yourself and for the better might take a long tome but t has the possibility to become permanent and enriching.
I will be the captain of my own vessel. Anyone who thinks thatâs wrong or thinks my vessel is to slow or to fast can do me a favor and bounce. Donât let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. Go find someone else to harass. I will continue to do my best and if my best isnât good enough for you, oh well. Iâm not changing for you, Iâm changing for me.
I cannot express how much it gets me when people think that if something isnt hurtful for them, then itâs not hurtful for everything. Every single person on this planet is different. Every one has different switches and only certain people can flip that switch. More often then not, people arenât reacting to the words that are said, but rather the way itâs said. The emotion behind the words carry its meaning. Emotion is what makes the difference behind a comment and an insult.
Iâm not sitting here being over sensitive. I wish people would have a little more empathy towards other people and understand we are NOT all alike. We donât feel things the same, see things the same, think the same, or do things the same way. That doesnât make it wrong. To each their own and to the person who may read this who is trying their best, who is working to become a better person for their own sake: carry on. Keep going until you feel you have reach the better you that you aim for. You are your greatest critic and your greatest advocate. Be hard on yourself but also give yourself praise and feel a bit of pride in the victories you do claim even when they are small.
I may have gone on a bit of a tangent and probably jumped around some. But I feel much better now that Iâve gotten this off my chest.
Look, itâs the US back cover of A COURT OF FROST AND STARLIGHT! Aka your first chance to read a bit of ACOFAS! Aka your first chance to freak out.
We freaked out too, we promise!
