Long time no post! That’s because for the past few months I’ve been working on my first ever army. Instead of just one or two figures to paint there were 30. But they’re all finished now. Warhammer 40K Sisters of Silence.
Next up I have some supplementary things to add to this army, including an inquisitor and a tech priestess.
Dropzone Commander ship. I don’t play the game, I just bought this ship to paint it. Going for that 70s sci-fi look with the blue/red color scheme.
A new model kit! I got a ton of these Space Battleship Yamato kits for dirt cheap (like $1 each). I built this one today. Hopefully can start painting tomorrow.
My little succulents.
The top one is around a year old. It hates strong sunlight and will kill its leaves if left in direct sun for even half a day, but otherwise its quite hardy. The bottom one is at least 3 years old. It loves strong sunlight. I have no idea what the names of either plants are, so if anyone knows, feel free to tell me.

Ah thanks, Portulacaria looks right. I didn’t think it was a Crassula.
The top one, you can’t see them in the photo, but it has swollen bases, which is why I think it’s a succulent.

Finished 8-wheelers with changeable turrets. I tried a new painting style.
They're really useful units in the game, great for recon but I keep getting them killed.
Bayleaf. This one is Pokepla, a polystyrene kit. I got tired of the cheap soft plastic models because the gesso won't really stick.
Puma and kettenkrad, not same scale. Both gessoed, primed and ready for color. Now I'm just waiting on the paint to arrive in the mail.

Working on some Pumas I bought as a reward to myself for playing in the Flames of War tournament. I didn't win a single game! Still had fun, though.
This is my final model of Bank Lane Railway Bridges. It took me several months to construct, roughly 20,000 tiny bricks placed on individually, a lot of patience and observation and hundreds of cups of tea!
I firstly built the two different bridges, I spent a few weeks making them in-between other parts of my studio work, I then marked out the shape of the walls on to a thick card and applied all the tiny bricks. The painting came next, followed by the building up of the hills formed from expanding foam and newspaper. After that it was pretty much just applying the scenery, tracks and ballast. I’m so happy with how this piece turned out. I strongly encourage anyone who takes an interest in model making to try making something, no matter how daunting it may seem. It has been a very challenging and rewarding project.

The next project! I just started today. The plants are carved from an old sprue and the rocks are insulation foam. Hot glue keeps it together.
Tree machine is finally complete!
The original kit is Bandai's Electromotive Injection Machine (ie a model kit of a machine that makes model kits). The tree was sculpted out of wire by yours truly, topped with Woodland Scenics tree-fuzz junk (not sure the official name).
So now I need a new project. Hm.
My first tree is finally complete and photographed!
This one is mainly just practice, seeing if I could make a tree out of wire and a rock out of insulation foam. The foam rock actually ended up looking more realistic than the real rock (which you can see under Bulbasaur's nose). I think in the future I will go with only foam rocks.
