If Something Doesn’t Creep Into A Drawing That You’re Not Prepared For, You Might As Well Not Have Drawn It.
Edward Gorey
To be gentle is to understand that life is a journey deserving constant attentiveness. Therefore it is gentleness that allows us to finish a marathon, not putting pressure on ourselves to immediately think about the next one. Gentleness is “just doing it” in such a way that we can do it again and again.

Spotlight: Spanish Manuscript Book
Someone studying Spanish history and paleography would probably love this book, which constitutes a 400+-page conglomeration of manuscript documents, letters, acts, decisions, ordinances, and accounts concerning the city of Huesca, Spain, ca 1683. How it came into our possession, we are uncertain. It’s an interesting artifact, however, and we were initially drawn to it by the curious vellum binding. There are several stamps and seals in this book, including one which bears the name of Charles the Second of Spain.
We just wanted to spotlight the book, but then we were curious if there might be some anniversary connection we could make, and it turns out that there are a couple:
Noted Huesca-born military surgeon Fidel Pagés (1886-1923) died on this date, September 21. He is most well-remembered for developing the technique of epidural anesthesia. Also, the birthday anniversary of the significant post-war, Huesca-born painter and writer Antonio Saura (1930-1998) is tomorrow, September 22.
perhaps writing fiction is exactly that: accumulating ghosts and learning to live at peace with them
