Have we ever considered that his upbringing on Coruscant would make Kallus wholly unprepared for when, on Lira San, his kit catches a bug or a little reptile with their bare hands and brings it inside
Just imagine Kallus saying "...that's very nice sweetie" with (barely) masked uneasiness
When Echo was first rescued from Skako he was… low. At first he’s sure it’s just the adrenaline wearing off. He was so happy to be away from the torment on Skako and he was happy to see Rex and he couldn’t wait to see Cody. But… all of his other friends are dead. And he takes it like the soldier he is. He grits his teeth and nods curtly and gets back to work. Because he’s a soldier and that’s what he’s supposed to do.
That first night he feels it. Once Rex is gone and he’s alone in his cot in medbay darkness creeps around his vision. He tries to sleep but he’s almost too tired to do it. His eyes close but nothing comes. Just the endless beep of machines and click of his internal systems cycling on and off.
It comes in the evening most days. The low. With a deep discomfort in his bones and a dreadful boredom that makes it hard to do anything at all. So he sits and stares at the floor and waits for it to be an appropriate time to sleep and hopes he’s just tired enough to not turn into a coward when the lights go out. He wants to ask Rex or Cody or Kix to stay with him. He wants to ask them to sleep nearby or sit with him until he’s asleep or something, anything, but he can’t. He’s just silent. He’s not a baby. He can handle battle surely sleeping on his own won’t be a problem.
The night carries on and he doesn’t sleep at all. His body shakes but he can’t decipher if it’s the cold or if he’s just that afraid of the solitude. The emptiness comes back again and this time he can feel his limbs grow heavy. Not with relaxation but with a tiredness he’s not sure he’s ever felt before. It’s just the adjustment period, that’s all. He’ll be back to himself in no time.
Until a few days turns into a few weeks and he still can’t escape that creeping low. It’s dark. And heavy. It weighs on him like the armor that’s still too big and it’s suffocating but he can’t move. He can’t speak. He just lays in the dark and wonders if it’s forever. If he’s always felt like this. If it’s just finally become too hard to fight.
It’s week two of his return when he acknowledges it like it’s a beast. Separate from himself and staring him down. He lays there in the dark and looks at it. The gnawing, aching emptiness that eats at his chest. It waits. Nothing else. It tries to whisper to him but he can barely hear it. Just the muffled hum that isn’t even there.
The following night he finally asks Rex if he can sleep in his captain’s quarters. Cody has returned to the 212th so there’s no one to keep Rex company while he does flimsiwork. That’s what Echo tells him anyway. That’s his excuse. Rex agrees like he’s waited for that question the entire time. It’s embarrassing to ask and even more so to follow behind him like a scared cadet. All because he’s worried if he sleeps alone again that emptiness will grow. And maybe this time it’ll speak.
They lay in the dark facing each other that night and as much as Echo wants to sleep he can’t. Because sleeping with someone else didn’t get rid of the loneliness, it just placed it ten feet away. Still watching. Still waiting for when he’d be alone again. Rex sees it but he’s not looking at it. He’s looking at Echo. And he asks a question Echo isn’t ready for but is too tired not to answer
“What do you think about when it’s… like this?” Rex doesn’t need to elaborate, he knows what he means. Echo sighs and the emptiness does too, bouncing off his ribs and careening down down down. He’s too tired to make something up or pretend he doesn’t understand.
“I’m not sure I deserved to survive.”
Idk guys, you think he can be redeemed?

Moon Joy June: Lunar Inspo
Moon Joy June artists! This is the second week of Moon Joy June, and the prompt is “Moon.” If you’re an artist looking for some inspiration, we have a treat for you: four new and previously unseen images from our Artemis II mission!
All four of these images were captured on April 6, 2026, during flight day 6 of the mission, when the four astronauts aboard the Orion spacecraft conducted the lunar flyby of their ten-day journey. During the lunar flyby, NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen captured photographs and collected scientific observations of the Moon in meticulous detail.
You can find more images from the lunar flyby here. If you’re feeling inspired to make some art dedicated to our celestial neighbor, you can share your creations on Tumblr with the #ArtemisArtShow hashtag!
If i wanted to work with children I’d have become a teacher, but i don’t so i didn’t so instead i work in an office full of adults who act like children because it’s the only way they can feel any amount of power and/or control over their mediocre lives.
How did you so accurately describe the last 25 years of my office job?? 😂
For real, on Bring Your Kids to Work Day when people ask me (their happily child free supervisor) if I’m bringing kids in, I tell them “I don’t have to, my kids are already here!”

Echo has recovered from Skako Minor a bit by the time Order 66 happens. it's kind of subtle since he remains thinner than the regs, but there absolutely is a difference if you put it side by side like this
I do wish they didn't forget about him having leg prosthetics though >.>
Oh, so you think this is funny, Agent?
