I'm curious: Tell me your biggest UfYH-related success in your life since I've been gone from tumblr.
Have you made hitting Sink Zero a regular thing?
Did you finally get your closet of doom under control?
Can you have someone over with little notice without a full meltdown?
Did you finally deal with that decade-old invisible corner?
No successes you can think of? Still struggling? Let me know what your biggest UfYH goal is. What would make you feel like you've got your mess under control? What's one thing you want to accomplish when it comes to your living environment?
I used a combination of UFYH techniques and the app Habitica. Not everything I tried stuck, but one thing really did: changing my sheets once a week.
This is actually big for me--I used to change my sheets basically whenever I thought about it, which translates to “random intervals in the span of almost never”. And as it turns out that was really bad for my allergies. I’m really glad I was able to make this habit stick, because it’s improved my quality of life.
The rest has been. . . a bit of a mix. I did have some gnarly depressive episodes and even caught COVID in fall of 2020, which took ages to recover from, so there are definitely more than a few invisible corners that have lingered and some regular cleaning habits I really should re-establish. But on the plus side, I organized all my doll stuff, painted two accent walls, and actually did some pretty decent cable management behind my desk. So I did at least make some improvements in my habitat, even if they’ve been kinda piecemeal.
Today is a good day for me, a Childe enjoyer
Also, Thoma is here too I guess
You pulled half a burgeon team!
shinobu and the arataki gang at the inazuma drive-thru
they also asked for no beans
I love how this implies Shinobu is the Arataki Gang's team mom and she won't hesitate to go full Karen in their defense
Soooo. . . Weird question.
Anybody know of any good Yuri!!! On Ice x Genshin Impact content? Fanfics, fanart, crossover, fusion, dumb Tiktok videos, I'm down.
I just really want to see how people put these two things together, lol.
Ruffnut is transfem and im right and you know it
As far as I'm concerned, both twins' gender identity is "swamp troll". They probably used to switch places on the reg till they grew different mold patterns in their hair.
A behind the scenes look at creating a YOI nendo ice rink.
Usually I just throw up my art or the pictures I take of my nendos with a short blurb. This project, however, I felt deserved to have a little more context and I thought people might like to see what went into making the end result.
I had the idea to do Duetto customs of the Stammi Victor outfit ever since I started collecting the YOI nendos. I had painted my Yuuri a while ago, but finally got around to finishing Victor after I got the idea to do this project for a digital Christmas card exchange.
Yuuri took me approximately between 4-5 hours when I painted him. Because it’s been cold here recently, Victor took about 7 hours since I needed to wait longer between coats to dry. In retrospect, I wish I would have painted them at the same time.
I was really happy to find a toy hockey play set that had nice sized boards that I could use for my project. They come as solid white pieces, so I taped them off to paint the bottom and top parts a dark blue. This took a while, again because of waiting for paint to dry. I ended up not liking the tops being painted, so I scrapped that and returned them back to white.
I searched through screenshots from episodes 11 and 12 looking for the board ads that I wanted to recreate and also for the on ice logos. ISO is the skating organization replacement for the real world ISU in YOI, a detail I hadn’t really paid attention to in my several watch throughs before doing this. I used Krita (the program I use to do all of my digital art) to draw out the designs and got a little bit of help from my significant other with the fonts since Krita’s text tool admittedly sucks. I don’t currently have a printer, so all of this and the backdrop were all sent to Office Depot to be printed. I got an interesting call at 9AM the next morning after placing the order online for pickup from the confused print department about the backdrop. (Yes, it was supposed to look like that.)
My board ads are attached with double sided tape and the on ice logos were tacked down to a foam core board. I used parchment paper to cover the logos and give them that below the ice look. All of that was then covered by a clear vinyl desk blotter. I’m really happy with the glossy surface and reflections that the vinyl provides.
The inside on ice dimensions are 18″x26″. Here is a Yuuri for scale. >.<
Sometimes you have to improvise light holders.
All lighting was done practically with these RGB LED puck lights and the spot light was my significant other holding an LED flashlight at my nendos while I took pictures.
And finally these are the unedited photos with the stands in. The only editing done on the final shots that were at the top of the post was to edit out the stands. I’m super happy with the results and thank you for reading if you got this far!
This is BRILLIANT! I have custom Viktor and Yuuri BJDs, and have been puzzling how I could get skating shots for ages. That ice setup is genius, and I love that it would be flat for storage. That leaves only 1/3 scale boards to puzzle out. . .
Raya and the Last Dragon
some character tests and exploratory visual development from Raya and the Last Dragon.
I need fanfic about Old Chong there. Gimme "get off my lawn" dragon.
In light of Raya and the Last Dragon (NO SPOILERS—haven’t seen it yet!!!)
Frankly, the retriever is just Sisu in a nutshell, regardless of what form she's in!
I’m so sad that raya got released in the middle of a pandemic so the only way to watch it is going to a theater and risking your health and safety or paying $30.
I just want this movie to be successful so it could get a sequel or tv series where they can go more in depth with the characters and cultural aspects. a story like this is one that deserves a sequel. frozen absolutely did not need a sequel. there’s so much more to be explored and I’m afraid the numbers aren’t going to be high enough to do that:(
It also doesn't help that several theater chains like Harkins have refused to screen Raya at all, mostly because they're mad at Disney.
But yesss I also would love more set in this universe. Specifically, I want a TV series of Sisu, Raya, and Namaari wandering around Komandra being a trio of gal pals, trying to show Komandra what unity looks like. . . but the message gets muddled because when it comes to being normal people, they're all disasters.
And yes, I am on board with Raya and Namaari becoming romantically involved, but also they both have some trust issues and should probably rebuild their friendship first. A TV series would give us time to see that. . . and to see Sisu be the most awkward wingman ever.
(Actually, maybe we'd get to see Sisu have her own character arc, too. I got the impression that she's young for a dragon, and at very least the baby of the family. It'd be cool to see how she grows up a bit when her brothers and sisters aren't sheltering her.)
ICEADO TRAILER IS HERE THIS IS NOT A DRILL
YOOOOOOOOO
Oh my god and it was only posted two hours ago THE MOVIE, IT LIVES
. . .did anyone else notice there was a bird in the arena though? Like, wtf, lol
Russian names: Yuri
Russians use diminutives much more than a lot of other cultures. Basically, everyone who, speaking English, would be on first-name basis, in Russian would address each other with the singular “you” (ты) and use each other’s short names. Moreover, sometimes people use the plural “you” (вы), ans still use each other’s short names, without asking first.
Going from plural “you” to singular often requires a short discussion akin to “Call me Jack - Okay, and you call me Susan” in English, but using a diminutive is either implied by the use of singular “you” or just not a big deal.
I’m personally annoyed with that, because a lot of Russians I know call me “Yura” (well, not Yura exactly, but the equivalent version of my first name), or even “Yurochka” while still using the plural “you” like they’re supposed to. There’s no polite way to say “call me Yuri, I don’t like my diminutives”, because everyone thinks it’s not a big deal: it’s your name, what’s wrong with that?
Also, no one - literally no one - addresses a child or a teenager (at least, a teenager younger than 17-18) by their full name if the name has a diminutive. The most frequent diminutive for Yuri is Yura.
So. Victor, Yakov, Lilia, Georgi, Mila and every other Russian around Yuri Plisetsky call him Yura, unless he’s in a habit of throwing a fit every time someone does that. I’m not sure he does, because really, it’s not seen as a big deal at all.
His grandfather (and probably Yakov) might call them Yurochka - all the time, or when they’re feeling especially sentimental.
Other diminutives include Yurka (it’s a little bit dismissive, but otherwise neutral, so it’s probably used by classmates or siblings), Yurik (also dismissive, kind of childish and rhymes with a childish insult, so probably not Plisetsky’s favorite), and Yurets (stress on e, very rare, but I know a Yurets; rhymes with the Russian for “cucumber”). I’m not sure Plisetsky is particularly fond of either of those names, but someone might use them to annoy him.
Who calls him Yuri? Foreigners, sponsors and journalists when they’re interviewing him. Maybe also his professors once he starts college (his school teachers use Yura or the last name), and everyone else who has to address him formally: bank clerks, hotel receptionists and so on.
Yuri Nikolaevich, or whatever is his patronymic (Nikolaevich is from Nikolai, his grandfather’s name, I used it because we don’t know his father’s name. If he were Yakov’s kid, he’d be Yakovlevich), is hardly ever used. It’s there in his passport, and a policeman that stops him for speeding (don’t tell me it won’t happen at least twice a week when he gets his license) might address him that way, but other than that, until he starts coaching, or teaching, or becomes a doctor, a politician or a parent, everyone will keep calling him Yuri, because patronymics aren’t as frequently used in modern-day St.Petersburg as they used to be.
Otabek, whose Russian is as good as Yuri’s own, will probably call him Yura or Yurka, unless, again, Yuri asks him not to.
Also, if you combine the Russian for “kitten” (котёнок) and with Yuri, you get Юрёнок (Yurionok, where the “io” in the middle is pronounced kind of like “ir” in “girl”). It sounds cute, funny and very intimate; would probably annoy the hell out of Yuri or reduce him to a pool of goo, depending on who’s using it.
Yuri Katsuki, for the most part, wouldn’t be subjected to diminutives, because everyone realizes the Japanese don’t use the same diminutives, but Yakov, once he warms up to him, as well as grandpa Plisetsky and Victor’s family if he has one, may call him “Yura”, as a sign of accepting him as one of their own, like how Yuri’s mother calls Victor “Vicchan”.
This post made me realise that literally everyone I know (who’s Russian/Ukrainian and has watched Yuri On Ice) calls the show simply either Yurets or Yurtsi (plural form of Yurets, stressing that there are 2 Yuris there). Seriously, I haven’t heard a single “Yuri on Ice” or “Yuri” or even “that anime with gay figure skaters” :) It’s only ever Yurets this or Yurtsi that.
Also, in elementary school I had a classmate called Yuri and the whole class called him Yurchik (Юрчик) and sometimes rhymed it with Yurchik-ogurchik (ogurchik being a diminutive from “cucumber”). Weird, but we all had silly rhymes to our names and the form Yurchik stuck with me so much, that in my head I always call any new Yuris I meet “Yurchik” :)
I discuss Yuri on Ice in Russian with exactly one person (I find Russian-speaking fandom too stressful), so I had no idea Yurets was a thing. I can’t picture anyone calling Yuri that in canon, but it sounds so great when used by fans - especially “Yurtsi”! The two of us call them Yurki, and that’s way less sweet; a pair of cute cucumbers is sooo adorable!
And I’ve never heard Юрчик before, it’s such a nice nickname :)
So, for some reason, I can't help but imagine that Russian fans would use "The Yurtsi" in-universe to refer to Yuuri and Yurio together.
It would probably start at Onsen On Ice, but it wouldn't catch on until Yuuri starts training at the Russian rink.
Yurio would be predictably pissed, Yuuri would be weirded out and stressed, Viktor would think it's ADORABLE and not let it go, and Mila would probably laugh her ass off.
All hail Pipe

Anyone still need to sell Turnips?
It's Saturday, and everyone is usually scrambling to sell at at least a bit higher than they bought, but can't always find an island in time. Luckily, I need 19 more stacks of Turnips to have 4,000 bad turnips tomorrow. Weird I know. But I'm offering to buy up to 19 stacks of turnips (1,900 individual turnips) at 200 Bells per turnip. Aka 10 Turnips (1 dropable item) will be 2,000 Bells, a full stack of 100 turnips will net you 20,000 Bells, et c., I'll even buy turnips that have already gone bad!
Please PM me for a Dodo Code to Serenity!

I have so many questions
Why aren’t there more Victor/Yuuri harem fics??
Specifically, we need Oblivious Yuuri's Harem, where all the skaters from Sochi are constantly getting up in his personal space and he cannot for the life of him figure out why.
They all come to Hasetsu, but Viktor gets there first and no one ever quite forgives him for it
