at this point I’m holding onto this blog with the blind hope that Lightcycle Power Run will revive the fandom in like three years
Just had a glimpse of my alternate reality where I am the mom that made this meme
{{OMU I love your blog design!! (I forgot the correct term, style? skin? html? Whatever.) THE NOSTALGIA I LOVE IIIT}}
//oh, the theme? it’s great, isn’t it??!! all credit to the person who made it -- //I’ve only messed around with the links and such.
user-alan:
“Mm,” Alan nods as he enters the elevator. He feels he should say something, but isn’t quite sure what to say. Every time he tries, the words just don’t seem to form into coherent thought, so he remains quiet for a while.
Although there was nothing extraordinarily spectacular about the lighting in the elevator, Lora seems to have a radiance that Alan can’t help but notice. Maybe it’s the fact that this is their first real time alone together or perhaps it’s the anticipation of next Friday. Whatever the reason, Alan feels as though he is sorely outclassed by the gifted young woman standing nearby.
Her intelligence easily matches her beauty, but perhaps the most captivating part of all is her heart. No matter how difficult the situation, she’s always willing to lend a helping hand. Her mind is sharper than the fine point of a steel blade, but she never yields to arrogance. Kind, compassionate, thoughtful- these are all words that adequately describe her. Graceful.
Just then, the elevator stopped at the appointed level jolting Alan back to the present. Suddenly remembering chivalry, he motioned through the open door, “After you.”
She doesn’t mind the silence. In fact, it’s a welcome bit of respite from a hectic day in the lab. It’s also, she thinks, a stark contrast to Flynn’s behavior. Her previous boyfriend had often times felt the need to fill a space with sound, be it with jokes or laughter or loud music. And Lora had liked his energy, but had, at times, felt herself wanting for a few moments of peace.
She smiles up at him when he gestures for her to exit first. It’s the little things that earn her favor.
Her van is parked only a few spaces from the exit. Lora tended to arrive at the lab earlier than the rest of the office workers, and although her day started at an unforgiving hour, it offered her the chance to snag a prime parking spot. She stops beside the driver’s side door, keys in hand, and turns to face Alan.
“Sorry for the extra walk, but I appreciate it, really,” she beams. “And it was nice getting to talk to you without our bosses breathing down our necks, for once.”
My aesthetic: when you take off your glasses on a highway and all the lights go soft and smudged, a trail of amber behind you like a quiet afterthought
My aesthetic: keeping my own glasses on so I can see the road and not die
I hear that guy put a hacking feature on every piece of software he coded - a back door only he knows about - and it gives him access to any system his software managed to get installed on.

“Rumors. Totally unfounded.”
Translation: totally unprovable.
//Now, I thought we all agreed it was Popcorn Guy!
[in reference to x]
//y’know, the joke of it is that Dan Shor isn’t actually listed in the credits as having played anyone other than Ram??? so I’d love to know where any iteration of “popcorn coworker/guy” came from in the first place
Alan barely notices Lora’s humming when they reach the elevator. He’s still trying to determine just how awkward his last response was. If silence is any indicator, he’s sure he must’ve scored big time in the inelegance arena. Once again, Lora’s smile takes Alan by surprise. A pleasant surprise, to be sure.
“Huh? Oh, uh, not at all! I-I mean, I appreciate you appreciating me.” I appreciate you appreciating me?! Oh, that was eloquent! “I mean-” Just then, the elevator chimes and opens its doors. Alan lets out a silent prayer of gratitude and a small sigh as he motions for Lora to enter.
Oh, this’ll be fun. She’s storing all of this away for later, of course, for a time in the future when she might really need to rib him. Her lips are smiling and her eyes are laughing as she moves past him into the elevator.
“Well, I’m glad we appreciate each other already,” she comments easily as she pushes the button for the garage’s level. Maybe next time she’ll take the stairs, just so they can have a longer walk together. “Gives us some common ground.”

me comforting a friend:
Alan barely catches her remark about spontaneity as she swiftly changes the subject. He makes a mental note to ponder this comment later. As he hears hear latest question, Alan is once again caught off-guard by Lora’s forward manner.
“Uh-” he is about to say where he parked, but stops himself. He’d walk the extra distance if it means just a few moments more with her. “Sure,” he smiles, “that sounds good.” That sounds GOOD?!? Is that the best I can come up with? He sighs, shaking his head slightly at himself, and then follows Lora.
She suspects that his car is on the opposite end of the proverbial universe from hers, and is about to say as much when she thinks better of it. They know each other well enough, but Lora is still uncertain about how much teasing the man can take. Best to play it safe, then, until she’s more familiar with him.
Her walking pace slows a little bit until they’re walking side by side. Lora doesn’t say much, even as they approach the elevator, as she finds the silence more companionable than awkward. She hums a little as she presses the button to call the elevator, and it’s then that she turns to Alan with a soft smile.
“I hope I didn’t steal your moment back there. But I do appreciate you inviting me out.”
Finally, she adds to herself.
