Stumbling into Asgard
Jane was walking along; it had been raining all day long therefore the air smelled like fresh spring. She was enjoying every moment of it. The necklace that she had worn for as long as she could remember had been flickering for about a week and a half now. Number one it had never flickered before, so she had no clue that it was even able to do so. After a few days she just ignored it and continued on with her life. Since Jane had decided that she was going to return to school and get her master’s in Norse Mythology studying had taken up quite a bit of her time away from her, that and writing her thesis paper, and taking care of all of Tony Stark’s personal paperwork, chores at home, making his run for scotch and a million other things that he apparently couldn’t do without her. She thought it was high time for her to take some time for herself. Thunder boomed up above her head and she smiled. Thunder reminded her of her favorite person, Thor. She had only seen him once and that was right after Tony hired her, she remembered that he called her Miss Odinson at first by mistake. It took him at least ten times before he pronounced her last name Odassiosn right. Although she wouldn’t mind at all if her last name somehow became Odinson, but that was only in her wildest dreams. Why would a god have anything to do with someone like her after all? Jane begin to sing to herself a riddle that she had learned during her studying of Norse Mythology. “And to the earth and the heavens shall bring with them peace and meet to the bridge and the rainbow’s elite. “She wasn’t quite sure what that meant and it took her nearly forever to translate this but she eventually managed to do so. Suddenly her necklace shined brighter than it ever did. The words “Forever Protected by the house of Od..”Lit up and flashed finally revealing the last two letters. “Odin.” She gasped. So that’s who saved me from Loki’s wrath when he killed my parents….Her mind was only left to ponder this thought for a moment before the skies opened up and a tunnel appeared taking Jane up into the air, by the time she could manage to get a scream out she looked around and found herself face to face with a tall man in gold armor. “I am the guardian of Asgard, who are you?” Jane stood, she could see behind the man, a bridge, a rainbow bridge. “I-I-I’m Jane Odassiosn.”
The loud crashing thunder roared across the Asgardian sky. Thor’s electric blue eyes stared in the direction of which the lights and sounds originated. The Bifrost. This was odd behavior. The Guardian would never let someone through without explicit permission from the royal family. Summoning his hammer, Mjolnir, Thor mounted his steed and barreled towards the Rainbow Bridge.
Heimdall stared down at the mortal, offering his hand to her. His gaze remained passive, but behind those golden eyes, questions as to how she had escaped his sight and entered Asgard ran through his mind. “How is it that you have come here, Midgardian?” Searching, Heimdall’s eyes fell upon the necklace at her throat. Recognizing it immediately, he took a few menacing steps towards the woman. “And how is it that you have come to procure such an object?” He pointed at the stone.
Jane takes his hand to balance herself. She is visibly shaking as he asked her about the necklace. “I have had it ever since I was young. When Loki first came to Earth or I guess as you call it Midgard, I was eight years old. The tesseract had been pulled out of the ocean and thought to be used for clean energy. That was a long time ago, I’m 24 now. Anyway I woke up in an orphanage after my parents were killed by Loki. I studied Norse culture in college and was singing a chant I had read about and now I am here.”She looked at him, those eyes, she didn’t quite know what to expect from him. Was he going to hurt her? Toss her out of the chamber? She had no clue all she knew was where she was and that she was a bit whoozey. “I have seen this place, in my dreams ever since that day.”She whispers.
The thundering of a horse's hooves echoed into the chamber from just outside the entrance. Heimdall glanced towards the sound, then back to the mortal. "It seems I am not the only one whose attention you have caught." A small smirk tweaked the corner of his mouth. The Guardian turned to face the newcomer.
Thor dismounted, Mjolnir in hand. "Heimdall! What is this commotion? Who has passed through the Bifrost and into Asgard?" He strode towards the Guardian. "Aye, Sir. It would seem we have a Midgardian with a special trinket." His golden frame stepped aside to reveal the woman behind him. The thunder god's eyes widened, staring at her in disbelief. Never had a Midgardian visited his home before.
His eyes fell on the necklace, just as Heimdall's had; with suspicion. "How did you get that?" He asked bluntly. "By mysterious means, sire. It would seem she has come by it sometime after Loki's rein of terror upon Midgard," the Guardian answered. Thor narrowed his eyes in suspicion. With a small sigh, he crossed his arms over his chest, contemplating what to do. "Thank you, Heimdall. I shall take her to the palace and we will figure out what to do with her. Preferably send her back from whence she came. Asgard is no place for a mortal. Come." He beckoned for the woman to follow him.
