sucre says hello to you⦠read her lore + dynamic with basil and personality below if you want
Sucre was born in Italy, and was raised in a loud but loving household, with a mother and father who nurtured her love for the piano and writing stories by enrolling her in art-centered schools from a young age. As she grew up, her temper grew with her, but she found solace in being alone with her music and notepad.Ā
She ended up in London at Basilās side after her parentsĀ sent her to England for schooling in music and art, where she ended up getting entangled with the detective mouse when a case of valuable possessions being stolen from her college led to him being on the case and recruiting her to help assist him. After she helped him quite impressively in that first case (which came as a surprise to her), he took her under his wing, though it took some convincing, mainly in the form of promising he would be able to pay for her expenses if she stayed with him. And so, perhaps with a bit of hesitation, Sucre officially joined forces with Basil, becoming his assistant.
She is still far more interested in piano and literature than whatever cases Basil tries to involve her in, but still stays with him, both because of their agreement, and because she is ever soĀ slightlyĀ fond of him (says her). Their relationship is a humorous one, with Sucre often getting dragged into the action of cases when she would rather be resigned to life as a simple secretary instead. She often gets annoyed with Basil for his antics and behavior, and sheās able to come up with some very creative insults for him when he gets on her nerves. Despite the tension that is often present between them, it is clear that Sucre cares deeply for Basil, and has found a kind of new purpose with him that goes beyond her initial pursuit of a career in the fine arts. After long days or exhausting chases, they are too tired to bicker, and often curl up together for a warm nap. Sucre and Basil also take note of the little things about each other, and often find small, nonverbal ways to express appreciation for each other, like leaving small gifts or trinkets or pieces of each otherās favorite cheese out where they can find them, as neither of them are big on outright saying how much they treasure each other.
She can be quite bratty and rude at times, especially when provoked or annoyed, but she is also capable of being very sweet and understanding, and is usually the one communicating with clients first when taking on cases because her empathetic nature allows her to glean information more easily from them than Basil can. While not usually a very outwardly affectionate and touchy mouse, she can become one under the right circumstances, like if sheās feeling scared, lonely, or clingy. She is incredibly afraid of thunderstorms, and that is when she becomes clingiest, especially with Basil.
She constantly smells of Tuscan iris perfume, which her father sends to her monthly all the way from Italy, and it is one of the scents she treasures most, as it reminds her of home. She usually wears simple but flattering dresses that have frilly ends and sleeves with short capes attached or over top of them, embroidered with different patterns, ranging from simple pinstripes to more playful ones such as fruits and flowers, along with stockings and flats, and a fluffyĀ overcoat (sometimes even Basilās coat) if itās cold. If the occasion calls for disguises, of course, she will dress in whatever way best suits the situation.
Warm up sketch except i didnt draw anything after this because i started getting hand cramps when will i be free š
Fun fact she was supposed to be a bunny when i first designed her but everytime I tried to make a rabbit design, or a design to "match" Bugs, it never felt right. I started to feel better about her as a character when I finally settled on changing her species to a bat, which I think represents me better. I like that she doesnt really look like a real looney tune, since she isn't supposed to be one.
Venus tends to have a lot of insecurities when it comes to her "relationship" with Bugs. One of those insecurities is her appearance. She already doesn't feel adequate enough in her human body, and her toon body is hardly much better. She sometimes wishes she had turned into something more appealing, like a cat, or a rabbit to match Bugs. Just about anything else that would make her feel like she belongs with him. Her insecurity isn't helped by the uncomfortable stares she gets at the studio while shes with Bugs as a toon. She doesn't like to think this way about herself, feeling like she needs to fit a criteria just to be seen with him- but its hard not to take those things into consideration when you're daydreaming about having the freedom to be in a real relationship with your boss whos literally BUGS BUNNY.
