but regardless, this is such a prime example of the way fandom isn’t contained. the way fandom - and the ways in which we behave in it - leeches into every aspect of life.

and i think that’s an incredibly important thing to recognise, especially in the marauders fandom.

it is incredibly important to recognise how capitalism impacts fandom. it is incredibly important, in the marauders fandom when acting with JKR’s IP, to understand how deep that connection goes. how money and marketing and prevalence factors into that equation.

incredibly important to understand that simply being in this fandom is not enough to say you Get it. that you Understand. that you’re Against her.

just look at alchemised/manacled and the way that publication was marketed. the center of all marketing was that it was Dramione Fanfiction. Harry Potter Fanfiction.

that connection is important. regardless of where a work was originally posted, or what the author has stated, if that connection to her name and her characters and her work is there when published writing for profit? then that connection is important.

the commercialistion of fanfiction is an issue in and of itself. the commercialisation of Harry Potter fanfiction is a whole other can of works.

trying to be part of the media hype and engage happily with their success but it is so hard to watch people fall for rainbow washing so this is your reminder that the olympic committee intends to ban transgender female athletes entirely as early as the milan winter olympics.

and that USA hockey, literally just yesterday, banned all transgender athletes.

we all, cis or trans, have a… torch to bear, if i may, in this fight. every single one of us has something to offer and pass along.

this kind of mass representation is such a great First Step in making some kind of mass change, but there is So Much more to be done.
