21.08.18 - 6th month anniversary since Alina’s Olympic Short Program and her World record :)

When I joined the team 4 years ago, Yulia Lipnitskaya was still skating with us and she didn’t like the “Romeo and Juliet” program. She wasn’t feeling it, and Eteri asked me to look into it and do something. I was thinking for a long time, listening to different musical pieces, and when I came to “Black Swan”, I clearly envisioned the program, and how the transformer dress will look like. I decided to make a program about the transformation of a white swan into a black one. But at that time it was my first year working with Eteri, and my idea was refused. Not by Tutberidze, but by Yulia. I can understand her: I was a barely known young choreographer, while Yulia had already won an Olympic team gold with “Schindler’s List” by Averbukh. I do not have any regrets - my idea waited within me for a few years, and finally found its incarnation in Alina’s short program. - Daniil Gleichengauz

At first I play an innocent white swan, who is discovering the world. Then, during the step sequence, I have such a music that “breaks” me, and a kind of evil force is in me. At the end of the step sequence I transform into a black swan. At that moment I, having understood the world, realize that it’s impossible to survive in it without this cruelty.
