For people who don’t keep up to date with the Pokémon meta, here’s what’s happening in the competitive scene right now:

- houndstone has been banned, due to having a move “last respects” that is insanely overpowered. It deals a certain amount of damage for every Pokémon in the patty that’s fainted; I believe it can dish out close to 300 if the other 5 members are fainted. I think the smarter thing would be to ban the move, and the houndstone itself (especially since basculegion can learn the move too) but we’ll see.

- maushold is at risk of being banned, due to its move population bomb hitting up to TEN times, dealing, again, close to 300 dmg.

- shedinja has been BANNED within 24 hours. I’m so proud of him.

- other banned non-legendary Pokémon from OU are: iron bundle, palafin, flutter mane,and roaring moon. Other Pokémon that aren’t banned, but at risk of being banned, are Annihilape and Gholdengo.

- knock off can be learned by fewer Pokémon now, which is going to shake things up quite a bit. Knock off is one of the most important moves in the meta of any tier.

- dunsparce, who is now a pre-evolved Pokémon, was allowed to play in little cup. It was almost immediately banned.

- heavy arguing on whether tera-types should be banned outright, or restricted. In some niche metagames (such as monotype) it has already been banned.

#yeah last respects has 300 base damage when houndstone is the last pkmn alive. that plus stab plus sand rush (2x speed in sandstorm) jfc #maushold iirc is bc if u give it a kings rock it has an insane chance to flinch bc 50% chance x10 hits

Bad thoughts can’t touch me . I know so many Pokémon facts to replace any possible bad thoughts with.

“I’m a loser” —> the gen 2 moon ball was supposed to work better on Pokémon that evolved with the moon stone but the item ID was programmed wrong and so it only works better on Pokémon who evolve with a burn heal. Which is none. So it’s a normal pokeball, functionally

here’s a breakdown of the rules:

with terestallization, the pokemon’s actual type is changed to a mono-type.

however, it retains the STAB of its original typing in addition to a new STAB granted by the tera type. there are different effects depending on if the tera type of the pokemon is the same or different as the original typing.

mono-type pokemon example:

tangrowth is a pure mono Grass type. if its tera type were grass (the same as its original typing), it will get a x2 STAB instead of x1.5. however, if tangrowth had a tera type different from its original type, say a Rock tera type, it would retain its x1.5 Grass STAB in addition to gaining x1.5 Rock STAB.

dual-type pokemon example:

hatterene is a dual Fairy and Psychic type. if its tera type were Fairy, it would have x2 STAB for Fairy and x1.5 STAB Psychic. likewise, if its tera type was Psychic it would have x2 STAB for Psychic and x1.5 STAB for Fairy. if it had a tera type different from either of its original types, like Electric tera type, it retains both x1.5 STAB for its original types (Fairy and Psychic) in addition to x1.5 STAB for Electric. so it has three x1.5 STAB types.

their weaknesses are the same as the tera type. Rock tangrowth is weak to Rock weaknesses, not Grass ones. Electric hatterene is weak to Electric weaknesses, not Fairy or Psychic ones.

you can see how this can be broken. if the tera type is the same as the original it’s basically free Adaptability.

ice types are going to see more viability because if their tera type is different they will still have ice STAB but not ice’s pitiful defenses

simply the existence of dual ice/ground types with a steel tera type. that’s x1.5 ice, ground, and steel STAB offenses with only steel defenses. like that might even be better than the steel/fairy dual type because ice and ground are the most offensive types in that they hit more types for super effective damage than any other. steel mamoswine is going to go CRAZY . it can learn iron head btw . if you even care
