Hi hi, I’m back again!! Let me start off with saying like— MOOD. I never write any lore down for anything so whatever I come up with goes out the other ear in an hour. But I also love talking about aus and love worldbuilding, so I’m so glad you still have such a passion!!! I’ll keep talking until the day I die so I hope you’ll bare with me a little longer~
Just read through EVERYTHING you’ve written regarding my last response and I’m in such an awe at how beautiful and bittersweet the Shinkai family lore was. Ough, Mama doing so much for Kanata and then having to run away from it all… I love that so much!! Mama has such a knack for helping royalty escape their small world and I love that!!
Also I was SO not expecting Chiaki to show up in this story at all, however that was a lovely tidbit !! I’m so glad Chiaki got to see the “ocean” (even if it’s personified into a wee little lad) and finally have a friend :,) Kanata too !! I imagine their bond to be a special one born from caution to possibly codependency… I love the thought of Chiaki being bedridden (perhaps this is linked back to having no mana/magic ? If everyone can use magic in this au, what’s to say there isn’t some users where magic eats away at their life source or their bodies are a little too frail to store large amounts of magic? Otherwise there’s also the other route of magic/long standing curses that can eat away at a family bloodline and perhaps the reason the Morisawa is so far out in a distant land is because they were cursed to hell and back!!! Just a thought though ;P) while a little Kanata takes good care of him and stays throughout his side :) maybe as a thanks and gratitude for the Morisawas’ taking him in, or out of genuine joy! Either way, I would imagine their bond is truly genuine as they grow older x) Little Kanata working on a farm and getting his hands dirty for the first time !!! So cute !!! He’s learning that not everything gets handed to him out here in the country
Sorry, Chiakana NUKE. You get me going on them and I won’t ever stop talking. But a few things to note with some more questions since it’s been a few days that I’ve had to think about it!!!
1) Once again, I need to applaud you for thinking of all the political issues happening in this world, especially with the elites over there. I’m so glad Suuchan has his knights (of the round table xP) to back him up!!! Go little Tsukasa, topple over your enemies and hopefully, one day, get reunited with your cousin!!
Also, I love and adore Leo. He’s a 🌻 personified in this au and I’m in love.
2) Speaking of… do you have any ideas or loose thoughts regarding the Amagis? I know this was brushed upon in the end of the rinniki oneshot when Hiiro comes into the picture……. Buuuuut I’m big and greedy and absolutely adore them. Any special thoughts relating to their village or any miscellaneous information that wasn’t able to get added? Or if there was any possibility of Hiiro getting a seperate oneshot/side sequel detailing his journey from the Village to where he ends up now? I would love to see his interactions starting out to meeting TatsuMayo to finally getting his brother back and what happens after ! If not that’s okay, writing takes a lot ^^ (otherwise, If it’s okay and you’re willing, I would love to attempt to write up a piece for this au!!)
I love the Amagi village a lot and the brothers as well, and I live for the angst the two bring, teehee!!

i wouldn't say the morisawas are cursed or anything! chiaki really is just a frail child, maybe he's super sensitive to levels of magic in the environment- though magic itself is limited for the common people, the surrounding environment doesn't have to follow any human-imposed rules or restrictions
so by virtue of his upbringing he doesn't know how...but even innately it just doesn't mesh with him even when kanata tries to teach him he fails spectacularly. he makes up for it with physical strength :]
i think for them they eventually meet the ryusei juniors and become an adventuring party that rescue people in need!! true heroes!! :] its mostly through their own strength since kanata really is the only one with knowledge of magic in their small band of heroes but unlike chiaki who is a lost cause in all things magic the juniors do pick up some things from kanata :3
ehe\~ the chivalric knights will topple the hierarchy and make magic accessible to all!

there's quite a lot of hidden families haha
the amagis are a family that lead a secluded village deep in a far-off mountain range, their village is so high up you'd almost think they're actually in the sky
their magic is OLD old magic ancient and powerful spells many in the normal cities have never even heard of (there is a chance himeru is trying to look into this). the amagi family specifically are innately born with immense magical affinity, it's why they're the ones in charge.
they're a very traditional village, and scorn any change. no one is allowed to leave, all tradition must be followed. something something propaganda about the outside world being a bleak and hopeless land while this is paradise
oh they also guard the gates to heaven lmao! except its not like heaven its more like... an entrance into the land of the fey? like magical beasts and whatnot- but they call it the gates to heaven because they dont know that normal people call it the land of the fey. maybe its the proximity to this otherworldly land that gives them their power. its not necessarily a threat even if some things escape the gates occasionally...but it is forbidden for anyone to step foot in there anymore after they've lost too many people over centuries cuz u know magical otherworldly lands and getting people lost haha!
anyways yeah so powerful magic and secrets. the real reason they scorn the outside world is because they're trying to protect the old magic and the gates of "heaven" from outside abuse
now here's the firstborn amagi of the current family, rinne. he's a gentle child, who loves to run through the woods and catch bugs. he loves his mother who sings him to sleep, and vows to protect his one and only baby brother
he doesn't care about leading. he doesn't care about magic. he'd rather fish by the river, collect rocks and skip them across a pond, tease some wild beasts and escape without getting caught. he's just having fun, living his life
hell, his dad was still alive, and wouldn't need him to take over for a long time! maybe he doesn't need to lead, maybe one day he can truly see what's there outside of their secluded mountain range
but when his magic affinity shows itself and the elders see how much more powerful he is than his dad, they get harsher and that's when the lessons begin
and the difference between him and hiiro's roles becomes even clearer, them relegating hiiro to just his attendant , someone to be used and commanded. (it's not like hiiro doesn't have the magic,,, but it's nothing compared to his niisan) but he cant do that. thats his only brother
and the pressure and frustration just builds up more and more and culminates when their mother dies from a sickness
and it becomes clearer and clearer to rinne that for as long as he stays around, hiiro will continue to be treated this way. so he snaps one day and leaves. maybe if the heir disappears, everyone else will have to acknowledge the one hidden in his shadow all along. (but deep down he feels like he should've taken hiiro. because he's running away from his duties, from leading, and abandoning him. his only brother. it's all excuses and he's an awful good for nothing brother. but also like hiiro is significantly younger than him so liiike it really was better he didn't take him....and things didn't necessarily go perfectly but people stopped treating hiiro that badly but they were still crazy enough to send him to go hunt rinne down like a whole more longer down the line)
anyways rinnie journeys by himself far far away and disguises as a small red fox because he can be nimble in that form and avoid many of the beasts in the woods that hunger for a bite. and then after many days of running nonstop, he finds himself starving and weak and on death's door and thinking hey maybe he deserves this as he's being chased by a pack of wolves andddd that's where he meets the love of his life 4ever and the story actually starts #rinnie'smonthsofbeingtotallywhipped :sunglasses:
eee im honored you want to know things about the amagis but i hope you aren't offended but since i do have a basic idea already established of how alkaloid fits in i'd rather do any written development myself :'3 it's completely a personal thing, sorry but i guess it's because i'm attached to what i've started on with them :'3
if it's like small things though i'd love to hear them! like little headcanons or small fluff adventures. i'm just specifically particular if it's like... important things

id love to hear your thoughts on undead!! personally the only work ive ever done with undead is via rei because of eccentrics and ex fine... i usually like to weave eccentrics vs exfine lore somehow into my aus when i can (tenshouins and sakumas are also two of the big families in the fucked up and evil country!) ((haha and by extent since all of modelgumi are there and ritsu is there I guess trickstar or at least mao and makoto are also somewhere there in the mix. hmm. )) but i feel like i kind of made the exfine vs eccentrics fight impossible because i threw hiyori already to reimei LOL. maybe its just eichi and rei fighting. hmm. i think i'll make a chart about which country people are in LMAO im confusing myself.

Hi. I’m 3 years late. I absolutely adore your fantasy au to bits and pieces and I’ve got a few things to note/ask
1) Himerus side story absolutely BROKE me. From start (to when he was simply nothing) to first meeting Kaname to the accident (tm) I was sobbing the entire time. Beautiful and bittersweet.
2) Will there ever be explanations on alkaloids side of the story? Hiiro, Mayoi (in particular) , Tatsumi etc ? Just reading over your design notes on Mayoi makes me a little curious especially when you note about how he ran away from home 👀👀 I also have to wonder if running away from home had to do anything with the Shinkai family going under?
3) speaking of— the political aspect of your stories throughout them all was so. SO good. I got hooked by rinniki and stayed for the plot and in Kohakucchi’s story there’s some tension going around with the other higher ups and things like that… would there be any information about mama (especially, once again, coming back to the Shinkai family going under!)/leo and why he left/tsukasa/anyone else? I would ask about quite literally everyone and their roles but I feel that’s a little too much so I’ll keep with the ones we know !!

oh my goodness that makes me so happy that au is my baby :sob i dont have as much time to think about it because im more busy now but i still cherish it so much.... haha but youre not late at all! because it took ME 3 years to write the third part LMAO so you're more like just on time XD

1- I'm really happy about that hehe!! Yeah it started off as hehe silly rinniki but.. lowkey i had the himeru and tatsumi /kaname plot ironed out way more than the rinniki there's a reason i wrote and finished that one TWO days after the rnnk one LMAO. i think i was also fresh off of the obbli read so that might've influenced it
2- maybe! i know alkaloid didn't really get any spotlight... i do wanna give them something but i went into this fully knowing what i wanted to do with the bees and trying my best with alk :sob like even if the kohaku one took THREE YEARS to write i had the entire plot already down when i first started the au im just slow and writing hard </3 for mayo though yeah but he escaped before everything went down (whatever that is) but i think iirc it was like... more tragic and something to do with his family's use of forbidden magic... like accidentally destroying it all with his own hands oops. it's why he's so bent on trying to help but thinking he's worth nothing because of how much he's destroyed already oh no im rambling LMAO
3- oh i'm so happy you think so because i honestly think it's so convoluted :sob and complicated the political aspect of kohaku's fic is the main reason it took so damn long. It makes me really happy that it doesn't look like jumbled nonsense!!
i have a bad habit of not writing down my damn thoughts so most of this is me trying to recall what me writing at 3 am was thinking.. but:
tsukinaga family- sort of like the whole pre ! leo backstories, basically a family that was oppressive and used leo for his talents, when all leo wants to do is make music! Leo in general is very talented in many things, a born genius, but in that family he's a caged bird unable to sing...he does sneak off sometimes to compose in the forest nearby home. he has a little hideout he built himself in a small cave covered in music notes all over the walls
shinkai family: a family in the country that's been around longer than all the others, that worshipped a god (and used a living person as a living deity for their worship) kinda. they never took part in the games, they're a coastal family that stayed mostly away from the others. they're secluded but the other families do know of them kinda because word gets around but they're very closed off so its just like. oh yeah that family is super religious. a bad bad family bad bad Bad bad in a (well its a cult) way where there are Sacrifices made and its Bad bad bad like they raise a stand in for worship and then believe that once that person is of a certain age you gotta. kill them for them to fully become a vessel for their god and yiiiikes . you know very well what kanata is in this.
mikejima family: the dirty work doers of the shinkai family, they basically take on a similar role as the oukawas they protect the family and deal with all the dirty work besides. well the ritual sacrifices. anyways mama is of course part of this and then there's maguro who's still ill here...
chiaki: a sickly kid from a rural farming village far from shinkai territory that has big dreams but is temporarily living by the sea on the outskirts of shinkai territory for his health because the air is clearer
ok. now that we have everyone thats important here we go.
little mama is kanata's secret friend. they shouldnt be friends because kanata is the living deity/vessel but they meet secretly and play around at the beach. they're small, they don't know what being the vessel means. they sneak out and run by the sea and do kid things as kids do- they can't go super far because that'll alert the adults so sometimes mama goes out further by himself to bring kanata back some things because their section of the shore is kind of barren because of some shinkai magical barriers etc, shells and other things dont wash up on their beach so he often goes out to gather some to bring back for kanata.
by chance he meets chiaki and they kinda become friends or at least are on friendly terms and so whenever hes gathering stuff for kanata he sometimes visits chiaki because that sick kid reminds him of his little sister and chiaki did beg him to visit because its pretty lonely there because its just chiaki and his parents
and he doesn't tell chiaki everything about the shinkai and mikejima families or associated but he does talk about kanata sometimes and chiaki is intrigued and wishes he could meet kanata one day and they can all play by the ocean together (wistful thinking of a child who doesn't know better)
kanata's birthday approaches. specifically the vessel sacrifice one. mama basically finds out what it really means and is Horrified. all the adults in his family knew about this but never batted an eye. all the adults in the shinkai family and branches knew this but never thought it horrifying. that's a kid. a kid! and his friend... but then he realizes no one ever saw kanata as a child, but as a vessel for the cult's god
and he confronts his parents and he sees the apprehension in them but they can't do anything because the shinkais have too much power, even if the mikejimas are the ones that do the dirty work. and they basically have something over mama's family, maguro. if they did anything, maguro would be harmed, and the family would be destroyed. they fear them
so madara mikejima, the young assassin who is pretty damn strong compared to others, thinks simply as kids do: if you get rid of all the people threatening you, there'll be no threat
and while the shinkai family is full of extremely powerful mages, he is a sole assassin that they'd never expect. so on the eve of the vessel ceremony when the entire shinkai clan throws a festival, while everyone is drunk and distracted and the barriers are down for once he takes kanata and runs, saying its one last game
by chance, it's around the same time chiaki and his family are set to return to their home, and mama had asked them if they'd help him if one day he came running to them for help
kanata is very confused but chiaki and his family welcome him in and kanata is still confused and mama says its part of the game and its to go as far away as possible and explore the wide world and kanatas like arent you coming and mama grins and tells him hes giving him a headstart but he'll definitely find him and win because kanata sucks at hiding (because they play hide and seek often and mama always finds him) and kanata challenges him like dont take too long or else itll be my win! and its bittersweet and chiakis just there like :D??????
(they dont ever meet again because mama feels like he's done too much, and he.. wouldn't be able to face kanata after basically what he does next)
and then i dont know how but mama goes back and wipes out the shinkai clan. they never expected a kid to be their downfall. maybe he summons a ocean monster that destroys the whole seaside temple something something a forbidden spell only the shinkais should know like maybe its a whole goddamn leviathan man i think being drowned by the one thing they worship (ocean) is poetic
its a giant festival so most of the shinkai family and some of the others are there... but luckily his family is guarding the outside so theres minimal damage there but. well there are stragglers from the shinkais that weren't in the attack (not super high in the heirarchy so theyre not super powerful) but basically the family is destroyed by one angry kid that learned the truth and everything falls apart and goes to hell as all the branch families fracture and dont know what to do now and also mama's family is PISSSSSED at him because they know for sure this is his doing but he ran away knowing they would be lol
so mama much like kohaku runs far far away after saying goodbye to his lil sister... wow everyones running away. damn no one has a good life here even aira tried running away kinda. rip.
he lives in the woods off of his survival skills and keeps moving because who knows if someone comes after him, he kinda is a murderer. gets far enough until he's starving in the woods and he hears music-theres someone in a cloak sitting on a rock happily playing music.
mama befriends leo and learns about music with him. they make music together and leo complains about all his responsibilities and his dream of traveling and spreading his songs everywhere. mama lives in leo's hideout and leo sneaks out more and more. he makes friends and contacts all around and slowly starts to gather his intelligence network. hes like a teen now? idk i never established ages but there is a significantly greater gap between the younger people and the older people than canon
the kingship contest. leo cant sneak out much anymore, so mama goes to watch and visit him. as mama does he learns of just how bad it is (because leo doesn't really explain just how bad hes treated) and he uncovers a plot to kill leo once his family gets the kingship since hes pretty much won
so mama takes leo and asks him if he wants to lead a country, or run away and make music with him. and leo obviously has an answer, so they run away and leave that whole mess behind LOL and because the tsukinaga candidate has gone missing and that family is all accusing each other of it (because there's a lot of infighting in that family) the runner up suou family takes the throne and yadda yadda
hmm hmm in tsukasa's case:
he's trying to dismantle the fucked up political system
he's gathered a group of people to lead his cause (the rest of knights)
he doesn't truly believe kohakun's dead. he's still searching for his cousin. he knows his cousin wouldn't go down that easy
also he works with the oukawas to make his damn father step down lol! or threaten to kill him! he knows theyre trying to use him and that they have something to do with his cousin's disappearance! its very hopeful and there are many people that oppose them but he is loved by the common people and he Will make magic accessible to everyone!
ahhhh i rambled way too much haha but i really work the best when there's someone to bounce off of! hehe so if you have more questions/ ideas i'd love to hear them!! this may be my au but it was crafted with the help of other people to bounce ideas off of/ get my brain going :3 i LOVE that aspect of fandom...it may be my au but it grows thanks to you too! hell, one of the comments on one of my fics [here] came up with things for 2 units i didn't really think about!!
so PLEASE dont be afraid to prod my brain. PLEASE!!! as a writer that is the one thing i wish more people would do because oh my goodness i have A LOT to say about everything i write LMAO every single one of the worlds i create has so much more thinking put into it than just what's written please im starved i want to talk i ramble way too much and i know i already write a lot for some stuff but oh god i can say so much about everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!
