Rainbow Kittens Ok - considering I'm pretty much homebound, I've been on a roll of rainbow animals. This postcard is a copy of a rainbow kitten bag my gf received a while back. I made the kittens rainbow instead. We have a "pass the kittens" card that looks like this, where if I carry the card it is my turn to pay for dinner. After I've paid, I pass the card to her until next time.

Frog and Toad

I broke my foot in August 2014 and unfortunately have been in crutches and a wheelchair since. (Can’t drive, walk, kick, dance - you name it..)

My girlfriend has been pushing me around (literally) and taking me out far places.

This postcard is also of one of her favourite kid’s book series. She read them to me once since I’ve never heard of it.

The Great Blue Heron

I was inspired to start this blog at a friend’s birthday party. And so, this is the first “officially” mailed postcard to my girlfriend.

Why a heron, you ask? Well there’s a story.

We were traveling to Portland in late June 2014 and decided to get engaged.

We visited the Chinese Gardens in Portland on a spur of the moment recommendation, and decided this would be “the place.”

If you haven’t been there, it’s this beautiful balance of land, water and sky in such a small space of the city. I would most likely have driven by it if it weren’t on the map - just because it’s surrounded behind a giant cement wall. Not touristy at all.

We walked around the garden as I contemplated places to propose. I knew the last bridge would be the end chance I would have to pick a place, so I proceeded through the garden meticulous in my process.

To keep things brief, there were no bad views anywhere in this garden. It kept getting better as we went through - and I kept waiting on “the perfect spot.” We were approaching the last bridge when I realized I had missed many opportunities and beautiful places that could have been. On the last bridge, I felt discouraged.

But as I turned to propose, a great blue heron had somehow landed a stone’s throw away. The view was something that could not be planned. This was it.

It stood there as I proposed. And thus, the great blue heron.
