Museum of Ice Cream

We booked the TASTING ROOM x The Pint Shop, weeks in advance. It was a fun experience putting on lab coats and learning about ice cream. We tasted heaps of flavours and toppings, including the Graham Cracker butter OMG *drool* no wonder they sell out of this stuff!

Very instagrammable installations, nowhere near as good as the San Fran MOIC!

Spring Street Social

Bondi Junction

The new hottest place in Bondi Junction, nestled amongst the shops on Spring Street enter the staircase down to a moody, bustling bar. Invited by the king @hungry_diner for a media night, we divulged in canapés, MUMM champagne and selfies along the media wall.

We were treated to oysters, lounge beats and Timomatic dance moves while Mick sabered the champagne. In a crowd full of influencers, bloggers, foodies and even media from the Rolling Stone, it was a night of rockstars and rock oysters.

Canapes of the new menu:

Oyster: Rice Vinegar - Eshalot - Chilli & Yuzu Ponzu - Bonito - Tobiko - Cucumber - beautiful fresh oysters with different toppings!! I love seeing new stuff!

Popcorn Curried Chicken: Spiced chicken popcorn - fragrant tomato sauce - this was jam packed with flavour and really fragrant and yum!!

Aromatic Squid: Confit garlic aioli - chili - lemon - I smashed this down so fast, super tasty!

Mouth-Watering Burrata: Roasted chilli oil - cashew butter - cucumber - tomato berry - gosh I love burrata and this dish was in such a different and beautiful way

There is a few amazing bakeries on this street in Belgravia, London, that you can do a Bakery Crawl!! Such an instagrammable entryway, and the cupcakes were pretty good!! We had these ones for breakfast!

Shake Shack

Midtown, New York

Upon landing in NYC we dropped our bags at our hotel “The Row” and were very excited to see Shake Shack was right across the road. Longer lines at this outlet but they go fast and are very organised. Worth the wait.

Shake Shack should be 24/7 though, especially in NYC!!!!

Cafe Du Monde

New Orleans

The iconic Cafe Du Monde, i have seen in on a few movies and shows, mainly “Chef” and “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”, i was overly keen to try. Now there is a few in New Orleans around 6!! But the original is this one, French Market.

Now we went a few times on our stay in New Orleans, but the morning is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beignets are fresher and completely different taste. This isn’t somehing they tell you! We did have a few for dessert but then we went for brekkie one morning and were blown away! Bigger lines but worth the difference.

Picked this place as it looks to be an institution of NOLA, menu is quite extensive. Po’Boy’s are delicious, quality soft roll, perfectly fried seafood and fresh salad. NOM!!

Voodoo Doughnut

After our first night out in Austin around 3am, on 6th ave, we saw a long line and it wasn’t for a bar, it was for DOUGHNUTS!! We had to see what all the fuss was about, the line went pretty fast but we were also pretty drunk haha

We bought way too many donuts, who buys 7 donuts? Drunk Peta apparently. I remember the Grape one being my favourite. YUM!! Naturally we ate them in our hotel room on instagram live after being brought home via pedicab.

I don’t know what we were looking for in Austin, but it wasn’t really this. Somewhere called the Salty Sow would be a vibe, a fun, texas vibe. This wasn’t really it, this was a more upmarket share plate style dining. It was more like a house with lots of different rooms, alfresco area etc. If i had my time again, i would eat at a foodtruck instead for a more authentic experience.

The Salty Sow food was pretty good, tried Truffled Deviled eggs for the first time. The fresh bread was yum.

I’ve always heard of Chick-fil-a and always have wanted to try it, then when i got there i was like oh shit what do i get? They are more famous for the name rather than particular dishes.

I went with a Chicken Caesar salad! Simple yet yummy. It’s a great fast food option for your road trip. If i went again i’d probably try a Brielle Bierman special of spicy chicken sandwich paired with waffle fries.

The quintenstial essential for a Texas roadtrip! These addictive little nuggets are caramel-coated corn pops, i thought they’d taste more like caramel pop corn but they are mixed with more of a crunch like a cereal. Salty sweet goodnes. DANGER: highly addictive

Emporium Pies

I heard you can’t go to Texas and not have a slice of Pecan Pie! I read “The 30 Best Things to Eat in Dallas Before You Die” and couldnt fit in all 30 but i selected a slice of pie and squeezed it in the itinerary as “breakfast”.

First of all the hospitality absolutely made this place, the owner was genuinely interested in us and our holiday and gave us some tips for our next destination on the trip.

The pies were absolutely delicious, just enough crust, sweetness and crunch. Huge generous portion size and massive choice of pies to pick from.

Make sure to make this a spot of your Texas roadtrip like we did, and not just for the cute mural/neon sign insta moment.

We stayed in the Marriott Marquis Houston, and I already had Xochi on the list, when I came downstairs to go out for dinner Xochi was there!!

Xochi (pronounced so-chee) means to bloom or catch fire, the menu was so extensive we ordered a bunch of plates, even though it was semi fine dining it was really great value!

Each dish was as pretty as the next!

I was worried about the lineup for this so we went pretty early for dinner around 6pm. Normal 10-15min wait to lineup. Then another 10min for food. Very canteen style dining. More of a food hall experience but the food is to die for. Melt in your mouth brisket 🤤
