I would like to be drinking more tea. Drinking tea seems meaningful, not anything to do with the tea itself but the process. It’s healthier than my other options, of course, but the patience that comes with drinking tea is what I need. Sitting and waiting for the drink to slowly cool seems to contain a certain virtue. And it’s a virtue that I am lacking.
It’s tough trying to come to terms with aging. I’ve grown old and different from what I wanted to be. Getting back to this tumblr is like staring a younger, more optimistic me in the face without a voice to guide them or tell them off.
It isn’t so much a bad thing. Age, growth and change are wonderful constants of our world. The past decade has given me a lot in the process of aging. This feeling has caught me off guard, though.
Perhaps the most telling is the ironic map of where I live or posts bashing the place I now I work. That ironic map? It put me in the sell out hippy neighborhood. Given what I said about what I do now, maybe I was right.
Was this all really posted that long ago or does it just seem like long ago? Was I really that person or was that who I told the internet I was? I know that person is still with me. I know I still wait for the wind to howl.

starting to yearn to go home, to go back, to look at that green pond full of catfish one more time and wonder how they got there.
For those that don’t know, this March I began live-publishing my newest work. I suspect I will eventually take it down when I begin to move towards publication, if I move towards publication.
In the meantime, enjoy or tell me what you think. I don’t bite much.
(That is, If you are of the .03% of the world that finds intellectual history and a speculative realist’s inquiry into the solidity of history interesting.)
The focus is on the triple-reverberation of classical Western thought and the correlative misunderstandings that follow. So far, I am five parts into it.
just a reminder y'all. i know i've been lazy recently but it's mostly because i've been working on a different work of philosophy that focuses on the ascent to 21st century marxism.
Today’s Gender of the day is: Unfollowing GenderoftheDay over cisphobia
Under the rule of a repressive whole, liberty can be made into a powerful instrument of domination. The range of choice open to the individual is not the decisive factor in determining the degree of human freedom, but what can be chosen and what is chosen by the individual. The criterion for free choice can never be an absolute one, but neither is it entirely relative. Free election of masters does not abolish the masters or the slaves. Free choice among a wide variety of goods and services does not signify freedom if these goods and services sustain social controls over a life of toil and fear -- that is, if they sustain alienation. And the spontaneous reproduction of superimposed needs by the individual does not establish autonomy; it only testifies to the efficacy of the controls.
