The original caption reads: “The Italian collapse in Venezia. The heedless flight of the Italians to the Tagliamento. Captured heavy and gigantic cannon in a village behind Udine. November 1917”. Pictured is an Obice da 305/17, a huge Italian howitzer, one of fewer than 50 produced during the war.

"Version of events: Bluebeard just had bad luck. He got in touch with two very cunning poor sisters, who thought of a scam and cast lots, who would become his wife. He didn't have any previous wives. And his wife didn't have any brothers.
The sequence of events, in my opinion, was as follows: Bluebeard went on a business trip. Anna, an unmarried sister, came to the castle with a refrigerated van full of bodies of different women, for which no one in the morgue claimed the right, and they could be cheaply redeemed. The sisters staged a room filled with "trophies" of a maniac. Two brothers, a thug (not really relatives, but just lovers of the sisters), hid nearby in the bushes. As soon as an absolutely innocent, pure as a baby Bluebeard returned home, Anna from the tower signaled, they broke in and killed the rich man.
The local authorities were presented with a dungeon, slightly beaten wife, and also bribed coroner. The case was recorded as self-defense, and then the widow generously paid the "brothers" (even Charles Perrault does not hide this fact).
This is the conclusion that every reasonable person, guided by the principle of "who benefits", will easily come to!"
