I’m so excited to announce that I will be contributing to Profound 2: Into The Mystic! Here is a little preview of the fic that will be appearing in the zine:

From the moment Dean first kissed him, Castiel has been considering it.

Back when he was the perfect soldier, carrying out orders exactly how God intended, he never imagined falling in love with a mortal. Dean is as the one to change everything.

Every new sign of aging that Castiel notices when he looks at Dean strums his heartstrings. He adores them all, from the crinkles at the corners of Dean’s eyes to the fifty-eight white hairs on his head (he counted while Dean was asleep).

Still, he can’t help but think about the future and how one day, Dean’s body will wither and fade away. His soul will ascend to Heaven, and Castiel will be left with nothing but an infinity filled with grief. It seems like a solemn future—one that utterly terrifies Castiel.

One morning, while Dean is lying in bed next to him, he decides to bring it up.

“Dean?” Castiel says softly, hesitantly, as he watches the gentle flutter of Dean’s eyelids like the wings of a butterfly. “Dean.”
