constannnttttllyyyy having to remind myself i am learning. relentless mistake maker. i am learning and this experience is information. i say to myself over and over and over
you'll be happier and more present when you touch the world around you like you're a little bit in love with it (close the door gently, walk slower, listen)
Say it with me: I owe it to myself to see how good it can get.
find people you feel safe being a burden to. we all have to lean on people sometimes. the point isn’t to never have a problem, to never want to rant, to never need help. the point is to find the ones you can go to with your troubles and know they don’t see you as less.
it's good if you're capable of recognizing that police officers doing the "we're just here to help people and keep them safe!" routine are not actually telling the truth about their actions or the function of their job, if you do the next step is to consider that the same might also be true of soldiers, social workers, psych doctors, etc.
may be the best response to dumb comments like this
“I’m not doing awfully well but I’m trying very, very, very hard,”
— Anne Sexton, from a letter to Florence Ehrhardt, c. February 1974
nobody says stuff like "youre cruising for a bruising" anymore. they just say other stuff now
being a hater is so fun until you see someone who is a hater 80% of the time and then you're like christ i hope i dont sound like that person and you stay on your best behaviour for 3 days
idk what neurodivergent young adult needs to hear this but you are NOT supposed to give 100% at your job. I've gotten more promotions and raises since I started giving 40-60%, which my evil CEO uncle informed me is what bosses actually expect when they say 110%. My mental health has improved tremendously. I've spent 2 out of 5 workdays secretly writing my novel for the last 2 years and I've never been more respected and appreciated. Also--when you see glaring wasteful errors in the company's operating systems, say absolutely nothing! Embrace inefficiency. It is your friend in this capitalist hellscape.
"you don't know what you have until you lose it" works for things that suck too btw. sometimes you need to experience life without something for a while to realise oh damn that was some bullshit
