it is with great shame that i must announce ive been playing video games

So apparently the data used to recreate Notre Dame in Assassin’s Creed: Unity, such as surgically accurate laser scans and research by one of the developers, will now be used to restore the cathedral itself.

Not gonna lie, it’s kinda amazing how video games, still so often perceived as something childish and meaningless, will now contribute to restoring one of the most famous pieces of European history.

Ubisoft is also donating €500,000 to help with the restoration and reconstruction of the Cathedral, and for one week, they will be giving Assassin’s Creed Unity away free on PC, for anyone to appreciate their virtual homage to this monumental piece of architecture! You can read Ubisoft’s article here.
