Tips for Writing Injuries
✧ Broken ribs suck. You don’t just “walk it off.” Breathing hurts. Laughing hurts. Existing hurts. Characters with rib injuries won’t be doing heroic sprints.
✧ Concussions aren’t instant naps. Dazed vision, nausea, dizziness, maybe even personality changes, but they’re not going to collapse neatly like in the movies.
✧ Blood loss is sneaky. It’s not just about dramatic pools of blood. It’s dizziness, confusion, and the body getting cold as circulation tanks.
✧ Adrenaline lies. Someone can take a serious injury and not feel it until the fight’s over. That “I didn’t realize I was bleeding until later” trope? Very real.
✧ Twisted ankles are brutal. One bad step and suddenly running is off the table. Even walking hurts like hell. Perfect way to ground a chase scene.
✧ Burns linger. Even small burns hurt more than most people expect. Blisters, infection risk, constant pain, it’s not just a cool scar later.
✧ Dislocated shoulders = useless arm. Characters can’t keep swinging a sword or firing a gun. They’re basically fighting one-armed until it’s fixed.
✧ Shock is a thing. Pale skin, trembling, rapid heartbeat, and eventually disorientation. A character might not even realize how bad their wound is.
✧ Stitches aren’t magic. Getting sewn up is painful and recovery takes time. They’re not instantly battle-ready after a needle and thread.
✧ Scars tell stories. Some fade, some don’t. Some stay sensitive forever. Don’t forget the aftermath when the wound becomes part of the character.

Every time I draw Snape he looks different. Here we have version: cluster headache from a student asking a question.
I've not been able to stop crying for two hours, but it is tears of joy. I've waited so many years to see this news. 23 years I've waited. I cannot begin to describe what this means to the Huntington's community.
One day I'll write about what it's like to grow up knowing you might have a terminal, incurable illness, and not be allowed to test yourself because "it's such a serious decision" they don't want it hanging over you until you're an adult (as if it doesn't hang over you as you witness a parent die, and know you've got 50% chance of inheriting the same illness--as do your siblings). One day, I will talk about how, in the fear of traumatising children with the knowledge they might be incurably, terminally ill, they also took away their right to decide over their bodies to a degree that is traumatising. One day.
But today I am going to cry. Because it's over. Because no child will ever have to go through the same uncertainty, because at least they will know there is a treatment option available. A treatment option that one of my siblings might come to rely on. With all the shit things happening around us, my childhood hope and dream have been realised. That's got to count for something.
One of the most devastating diseases finally has a treatment that can slow its progression and transform lives, tearful doctors tell BBC.

Hi, I'm Luna. A writer, artist, and full-time coffee addict. Also the kind of person who gets struck by genius plot twists exactly when I’m about to fall asleep. (Shoutout to my 3:07AM brain for last night’s “ghost hunters who are scared of… ghosts.” idea.)
This little corner of the internet is my creative junk drawer: part breakthrough, part disaster, part “why is this sentence even here.” I make characters with too many secrets, worlds that feel like they’ve been lived in for centuries, and prompts that will absolutely derail your current WIP if you’re not careful.
Oh, and I am a Romance obsess and have an unhealthy crush on morally grey characters. (Send help. Or don’t.)
But--AND THIS IS IMPORTANT--this isn’t a perfect curated writing advice blog. This is a REAL writer’s space, which means:
✧ Ugly first drafts are trophies here.
✧ Weird plot twists that make no sense.
✧ Random shower epiphanies.
If you want rule following, perfect outlines “how to write” guides… you’re going to hate it here. But if you’re into honest chaos, caffeinated storytelling, and the kind of creative mess you can only get at 2AM, grab a chair.
Coffee’s on. Wi-Fi is probably fine. And there’s always room at the table for another storyteller.

On writing love triangles
⋆.˚ 𓇼 that sharp silence when she laughs at his joke a little too long, and the other guy suddenly forgets how to breathe.
⋆.˚ 𓇼 lingering touches that aren’t meant to be noticed. they’re always noticed.
⋆.˚ 𓇼 “wait here with me a second”... one says. the other pretends he didn’t hear it, but he did. HE DEFINITELY DID.
⋆.˚ 𓇼 being the one she confides in at 2 a.m. vs. being the one she runs to at 2 p.m. both matter and both sting.
⋆.˚ 𓇼 a family photo where she’s standing closer to one than the other.
⋆.˚ 𓇼 that split second of hesitation before she chooses whose hoodie to borrow. gut punch.
⋆.˚ 𓇼 someone shows up late, and the other guy has already been there with her. too late feels like losing.
⋆.˚ 𓇼 overhearing her say his name in a softer voice. the kind of softness you can’t fake.
⋆.˚ 𓇼 small-town gossip: “i saw her with him last night.” nothing kills faster than a rumor that might be true.
⋆.˚ 𓇼 one drives her home. the other texts her: did you get back safe? different kinds of care, both devastating.
⋆.˚ 𓇼 shared history weaponized. “remember when we…” except he wasn’t there.
⋆.˚ 𓇼 jealousy wrapped in politeness: “thanks for helping her.” translation: back off.
⋆.˚ 𓇼 three pairs of footsteps down the same hallway, and it feels like walking a tightrope.
⋆.˚ 𓇼 the sickening sweetness of realizing she glows in both of their stories, but she can only live in one.
By the way… I’m forever Team Conrad. Don’t even bother trying to change my mind, I’ll go to the grave with this opinion. 😋 <3
The beauty of Severus Snape is that he is not a perfect victim.
He bites, he lashes out, he defends himself against his tormentors as violently as he is hurt. He doesn't just sit there and 'take it' without retaliating, he doesn't bury his head into his pillow at night and cry.
But he is a victim nonetheless.
Just because he fights back doesn't mean that his suffering is any less valid than any other bullying victim. Just because he doesn't cower in fear of the mauraders doesn't mean that they were anything less than his abusers and bullies.
And the maurader fans love to lap up his resistance and call it "rivalry" so that James and Sirius are painted in a more positive light.
The truth stands that Severus Snape was a victim to their heinous actions.
The dynamic between Draco and Harry is nothing like the dynamic between mauraders and Severus.
My friend said this about AO3 and it’s honestly so true
Chapter 74: brewing
Ariel left the castle at dusk, cutting through the dying light along the edge of the Forbidden Forest, past the fuming greenhouses and the cold, empty Quidditch pitch. It was the only time she could move about unnoticed, when the rest of the castle was at dinner and the grounds were mostly deserted except for a few straggling Ravenclaws who cared more about their star charts than the looming threat of the Forest. Ariel breathed in the sharp, earthy air, the last trace of snow and old leaves sour against the back of her tongue.
She kept her hands in her pockets, eyes fixed on the gamekeeper’s hut below. Hagrid’s massive shadow bent over the fence as he peered off into the distance. She waited until he’d disappeared inside, then skirted the edge of the thicket, boots squelching in the late-winter muck.
Snuffles was always waiting for her. He looked even more ragged than a month ago — coat patchy, ribs stark under the grimy black fur, eyes fever-bright and too knowing.
Ariel didn’t call to him. She never did. He always came.
When she reached the clearing, Snuffles was there, circling the far side of the stump, tail rigid and hackles raised. He didn’t bark or whine. He just watched her, tense, as if waiting for the next blow. Ariel crouched down, arms resting loosely on her knees. She let the silence stretch, waiting for him to make the first move.
After a minute, Snuffles slunk forward, nose twitching at the air around her. He sniffed her boots, her hands. Finally, he pressed his head into her palm, the enormous skull trembling a little under her fingers.
He shivered, then settled onto his haunches, tongue lolling out in a thin, broken half-smile.
She fished a hunk of bread from her pocket, tore it in half, and offered it. Snuffles wolfed it down, then licked her fingers, his pink tongue warm and rasping. He shuffled closer, flopping onto his side, exposing the soft underbelly as a gesture of trust or utter exhaustion.
Ariel traced circles into the matted fur, eyes fixed on the place where the sun died behind the trees.
"You're looking worse," she whispered, more to herself than to him. "I thought you’d be doing better now that it’s warmer."
Snuffles huffed, a wet dog sigh. He pawed at her hand, nudging it toward the hard knot of muscle at the base of his neck. There was a fresh scratch there — deep, crusted with blood, surrounded by old scars and half-healed wounds.
She dug out the little bottle of healing ointment she’s brewed herself. Snuffles didn’t flinch as she worked it into the gash. He just lay there, eyes half-shut, breathing slow and careful.
They stayed like that until the light was almost gone. Ariel listened to the hush of wind through the pine needles, the distant shouts from the Quidditch pitch, the faint, rhythmic thud of her own heart. She remembered what it had felt like, months ago, to think of the future as something she could shape and hold. Now everything seemed to slip through her fingers, leaving only the mess and the ache.
Snuffles yawned, then rolled upright, looking at her with something painfully human in his expression. He nosed her wrist once, then loped off into the trees, barely glancing back.
Ariel watched until the darkness swallowed him whole.
