This is about second season second year twins speculation. Try saying that five times fast! Anyway, felt like sharing some thoughts.
The new possible villains, as we think they are, on the surface, seem a bit gimmicky. They’re twins, they represent the sun and moon, opposites (a fundamental theme in Boueibu), and are idols. Lots of concerns are being raised on what that means for the cast, especially the Student Council, so, I’m going to try and dissect this in a more positive light.
-The twins being second years is a strong indicator that the focus might shift in favor to Ryuu, Io, and Akoya development.
-Them being attractive, successful idols also would target each and every obsession they possess: girls, money, and beauty.
-Idols are also very influential to teens, so it’s not hard to believe Ryuu and Akoya may lose their third place position as pretty boys of the month. Them being a profitable business venture could attract Io’s attention as well.
-Now that the Student Council have been elevated to “hero” status (For Moonies: going from Shitennou to Outer Senshi priority), they, with the right potential, could receive more screen time, since we have seen before that Boueibu has a focus on developing heroes rather than villains.
****Additionally, since someone asked, the Student Council have been part of the main ensemble since the beginning. They were all introduced together at the first seiyuu event and the first wave of merchandise that came before season 1 aired. Plus the Seifukubu manga, the PVs, and character profiles were all released with the main 8 as the focus from the start.
-With the introduction of the twins, let’s not forget that we now lose Hireashi, Zundar, and possibly the Press Society if they do not make a return this season. This means that the overall pool of characters is roughly the same as last season, except now with the Student Council and Defense Club, we don’t have to start at square one. This means we might have more room for development for all of them rather than less, depending on how much the twins receive.
-The twins being human or humanoid in appearance might actually make the villains perhaps even more personable than they were in season 1 if we don’t count the SC, if that’s what they are. And, if combined with the passionately obsessed second years, could make for a very exciting story if done well!
I wrote this mostly for myself, ha ha, but let’s all hope for a great season!
