Hello! I'm currently a sophomore at Hofstra University in New York. I'm majoring in PR but I'm having trouble choosing a minor that would benefit me most. I'm torn between two choices. The first is fine arts which is photography, design, and art. My second is global studies. Which do you recommend is the best route? Thank you!

Any of these could support a career in PR. I say get quiet, get grounded and say each of the different majors and see if you can feel which one feels most expansive/opening/thrilling. That’s the best one to choose, but there is no wrong choice here.

And that’s marketing, too. […] [Ethical marketing] involves weaving a story, and weaving a tribe, and weaving a network that means something — doing work that matters. Because, now, everyone has their own TV network; everyone has their own radio station; everyone has their own printing press. So what are you going to put on it? What are you going to put out to the world? Because if we’re moving beyond “You work for me and you do what I say,” to a world where I say, “Here – here is a microphone, speak up!”; “Here – here is a connection to the internet, touch who you want!” – we are going to notice what you do. And so, whether or not you choose to be a marketer, you are one.
