RIGHT?!?!?!? They keep lumping him in with the Hunting Dogs in it. And yes it's an important part of his character, but he wouldn't be half as compelling if it wasn't for the Port Mafia and his internal conflict. (One that you're introduced to almost immediately after the reveal, through him sparing Yosano but also Hirotsu and Gin. So it's not like he was portrayed as a full Hunting Dog for every long.) Even the merch where he's not wearing the HD outfit (but not the PM either), he doesn't have the bandaid. I haven't watched the recent anime seasons so I don't know how the Hunting Dogs are portrayed there, but I think the merch coming from the anime probably plays some part? Maybe they're just given a design and that design happens to be HD. When it comes to BSD I have more fan merch than official and that tends to have PM Tachihara.
I liked Tachihara before the reveal, and the reveal and subsequent character arc made me love him. If he'd been introduced as a Hunting Dog, I don't think I would have cared for him as much. So it's a shame that the person he doesn't want to be gets slapped on all of the recent official merch. It's not really an issue, but it's a bit sad. I'd like a bit more of a mix at least when it comes to merchandise. I'd have also liked to see him in that recent chapter but whatever, Atsushi's book adventure is more important. Even Steinbeck got an appearance, great news for Guild fans though. I'm curious to see where that goes.
