In this au these four aren't counterparts but rather a curious case of siblings all of whom where somehow born a different pony race! From oldest to youngest we have Yuto the protective and mysterious bat pony, Yuri the magically skilled but mischievous and somewhat frightening unicorn, Yugo the fast flying and carefree pegasus, and Yuya the cheerful and boisterous earth pony.
Yuri turned out exactly how I wanted him to, I'm so happy with him - the others I'll probably tweak. However I do regret shading Yuri's cutie mark, makes it look too clip arty so I'll probably redo it.

Lore time 💫 the Sakaki siblings grew up in what'll be kinda this au's equivalent of Ponyville - haven't landed on a name just yet but it'll be the same town that Yusei and Yuga at the least inhabit.
Yugo works with Yusei in his shop - working as his apprentice and learning how to build wagons and sky carriages from scraps. Yusei also gives him a fair bit of flying and racing advise, despite being an earth pony he always seems to have the best advice.
Yuri has recently moved to our Kingdom's capital (still need a name) after being accepted into this Kingdom's school of magic. Yuri has an affinity for plant magic, in particular carnivorous and poisonous plants. While skilled in magic his somewhat sadistic personality makes it difficult for him to make friends. If he spends time with anyone it's usually his classmate Yusaku simply because the boy is quiet.
Yuya wants to follow in their deceased father's hoofsteps. Yusho was a famous entertainer, an earth pony who never failed to bring magic to the stage and travelled all across the kingdom performing - even getting to perform for the royal family. Yuya often hosts performances in the town square. Recently somethings brought him to the Kingdoms capital along with several others.
Yuto is the oldest and the most protective of the bunch. As a bat pony he tends to be more nocturnal in nature and often guards the village from Timberwolves at night. He's befriended a pair of Pegasus siblings in the village named Shun and Ruri.
How will the fusion work in this au? Well it won't be a true fusion persay but in a battle against a powerful villian, a dragon named Zarc, the three older siblings used a spell to transfer all of their magic into Yuya. This will forcefully ascend Yuya into an alicorn and leave the older siblings without their magic. Yuya would then search for a way to reverse the spell to give his brothers their magic back.
growing up, I always wanted to be a little bratty bird getting homoerotically abused by a sorcerer. but if you ever read Sir Cameron, please forget I said this. I definitely did not include that vulture scenes because I sexually imprinted on Iago from Aladdin. that would be insane
