The Careers in New Emerging Media Areas (CINEMA) Program helps youth ages 18 to 24 reconnect with school and the labor market to find a pathway to a future of economic stability. CINEMA offers paid training related to information and communication technology (ICT) skills in film, media and entertainment to prepare youth for entry level jobs in the industry and other related fields. We had another great successful Volunteer for a Better Sandy Springs day of giving with over 500 volunteers at 21 sites courtesy of my Leadership Sandy Springs family. This year I was site captain at High Point Elementary School where I also served as Principal for a Day last fall. We had 13 registered volunteers, but over 50 showed up! We couldn't have done it without my classmate Jill Kincade Yuhas and Megan Hamilton from the HP PTO. Michael Dubin conjured Dollar Shave Club initially as a way to help a friend's father offload a surplus supply of razors. The idea was good; the marketing, genius. “Great storytelling is why we've been able to grow so fast,” Dubin says. And it all started with a viral YouTube spot he helped create. “The day it went live, our site crashed from all the traffic--but within 48 hours, we received 12,000 orders.” Since then, Dollar Shave Club has moved beyond selling razors, launching in at least one new category every year. “Ultimately, if you want to build a big company, you need talent for every department that matches the much higher level you see at more mature companies.
