The Flower of Battle is an illuminating manuscript of medieval martial arts. Written by an Italian master, this ancient manual details the art of various fighting methods in the artistic way only a medieval manuscript can. It is one of the oldest fighting manuals in existence.

The discovery of a Stone Age ritual site in Poland has revealed a Neolithic henge three times larger than Stonehenge in the UK. Researchers have dated the site to almost 7,000-years-old. They are continuing to excavate and study the site and hope it will reveal more about the ancient society who created and used it.

Dr. Norman Bethune, Communist Party of Canada member, Spanish Civil War veteran, internationalist & surgeon passed away on this day in 1939 in Tangxian, China, of blood poisoning from an infection while operating on wounded soldiers of the Communist Party of China’s Eighth Route Army.
Dr. Bethune organized the first blood-transfusion unit ever established in battlefield conditions during the Spanish Civil War. Bethune also led Canada’s first public campaign for free, universal health care.
