Hello there, I'm Odette Cygnus Advaire and I'm the Herald of the Manhattan Swanmanes! I'm 19, I'm from Abbotsbury in Dorset, and I'm going to be the best ballerina in the whole world. She somehow managed to perk up even further. “Anita Blake? Sig told me about you. Welcome to New York!”

“Sig? I met him my first night here in New York. How do you know him?” Anita was cautious as her experiences taught her to be weary of any one who might know too much.

Odette laughed, reaching up to brush a few whisps of blonde hair back behind her ear. “He’s the Prince of my Flock of course. We’re a small group and we all live at the Estate so we talk a lot and I’m the Herald so he makes sure I know who’s around!” She ended with another giggle, looking up at the taller woman.

Anita felt uncomfortable with the sheer energeticness of Odette but unless this was all an act she didn’t seem to be a threat. Anita relaxed slightly but was sure to stay somewhat alert. “Ah your a Swanmane. I’m not too knowledgable about Swanmanes, what position is the Herald?”

“Yep! And a Herald is very important!” She nodded emphatically, making a few strands escape from the bun on the back of her head. “We’re the representatives of the Nest! The cheerleaders and mascots and the ones in charge of keeping morale up! No good Nest can function without a Herald.” With a delighted bubbling laugh, she twirled and resettled, feet in fifth position. “Sorry, I just love talking to people about the Nest and I don’t mean to babble!”

“I can see why they gave you the cheerleading job.” Anita said hoping the smile she had was not a sarcasic one. “Don’t be sorry, ever, for being passionate about something.” This time her smile was a reassuring one.

Odette let out a delighted little giggle, before her face went blank. She rather abruptly burst out laughing. "I can't keep this up any longer. Not even for Sig. Nice smile though. You must be one of those people who doesn't really understand the work that goes into cheerleading. I am a pretty good one if I do say so myself. I'm a much better ballerina though, and I have the reviews to say that for me."

Her smile grew sharp. "And thank you for that oh so inspiring comment. I'm sure I'll take it to heart. That's just what I needed to hear after dedicating three quarters of my life to ballet. Now, why don't you tell me what you're doing in New York? I doubt it's for the fashion."

Problems

Hearing the ‘it’s open’ forced her to take a deep breath and slip into the room. She knew what she was feeling was clear on her face. She’d never been any good at hiding her emotions when it came to Sig.

As soon as she saw him though, glasses off and that mound of paperwork, all the words she’d rehersed vanished from her mind.

“Daddy, I’m so so so sooo sorry! I didn’t mean to do it, I really didn’t and I tried everything else and I really really didn’t mean to and I’m so so sorry please don’t hate me!”

…Okay, so she wasn’t the most mature young woman on the planet…

Ending the words with a snap of her mouth, she got out a little squeak “I think I might have gotten us in trouble with the Kiss.”

Now that was news. They certainly didn’t need the Kiss breathing down their necks. “It’s okay,” he sighed. “We’ll deal.” He didn’t sound disappointed, nor did he sound upset. he just sounded… tired. If they had to deal with vampires, they’d have to be ready.

“Mind telling me what it is that’s possibly gotten us on their bad sides?” Sig tented his fingers together and shut his eyes. They might have to cancel that meeting with the lions if it was anything too serious. It was a new alliance, and he knew that Cleo was feircely protective of her charges.

Besides, they were already dealing with a rogue. Sig had offered to help weapon-wise, since said rogue threatened not only the Pride, but the rest of Manhattan’s shifters as well.

"Okay Daddy... Um. So. I was going back from rehearsal and it was late and this strange scary man came up to me and I might have gotten scared and kicked him really hard and accidentally maybe really killed him and I think he was a vampire because no one else does that when they die and I really am sorry I didn't mean to get us in trouble I was just really scared!"

She finally inhaled, cheeks pink from the exertion of her long ramble.

"And I don't know if he's part of the Kiss but I'm pretty sure he is..."

She trailed off, scuffing one cute shoe clad foot against the floor and wringing her hands in her skirt.

Nervousness wasn't generally something she gave into, but... well... she might have gotten the whole Flock in trouble with the Kiss and they already had enough problems...

Hello, Odette!Mun here. Heading off to jousting practice (Yay big horses, lances and rushing around getting people things!) and when I get home, I shall be going through everything I can think of and then very shyly asking for replies to threads that have been forgotten.
