a quiet biddable wife (rated e, wc ~11,300, warnings: graphic sex, bondage, D/s dynamics)
There are certainly many men of their generation who wouldn't allow their wife to keep working after they got married, let alone happily work with their wife side by side. Especially not after having children. There are men of their generation who expect submission and subservience as if they're one in the same. Inside of the house and outside of it. In church, in the kitchen, in the bedroom. Ed expects none of it. He never has. It is, perhaps, why she can give it to him so freely. He’s never wanted her to be a quiet, biddable wife. He does not find meekness or engineered humility to be desirable qualities in one, and cringes at the term helpmeet whenever it’s spoken aloud. But still, they’ve always found clearly defined rules and roles to be a comfort. (Set after the scene in the television studio where Ed loses his temper at the professor on live TV in The Conjuring 2. The long awaited brat!Lorraine fic.)
