Okay but imagine a ten-year-old Caroline going door-to-door brightly asking people to buy Girl Scout cookies. And the moment they say yes, the "star-eyed little girl" act completely drops and she pulls out a little clipboard and starts assaulting them with price figures and different deals she could cut them. And by the end of it she had an entire county contractually obligated to buy a month's worth of Tagalongs. The cake might have been a lie, but the cookies were serious shit.
this is beautiful and 110% accurate i can guarantee you oh my god
Last doodle for tonight. Have a Caroline! <3
The most terrifying thing in the world can be a lucid moment.
”Oops…”
Yeah… Faulty, indeed.
"I 'll tell the lab boys to go back to the drawing board for this one."
Too late.
It broke.
A wry 'I told you so' rests on the tip of her tongue, unspoken.
"Faulty prototype, I'm sure."
She never gets a funeral.
She never gets a grave beside his own, or a wreath of flowers to rest against the headstone she never receives. No one sheds a single tear at her passing — maybe that was because she never really passed away. Even still, the sentiment of grievance is lacking.
There’s never any body to bury. The procedure was gruesome and violent, to say the least : removing one’s consciousness requires several more scalpels and a hell of a lot more blood than she ever would have anticipated.
She doesn’t know what they did with what remained of her corpse — tossed it into an incinerator, probably, or hid it away in the depths of the facility. She truly wishes they would have buried her. Perhaps then she would have been less restless.
She never gets a funeral. And when she wakes, she makes sure none of them do, either.
”And I’m sure it does, Caroline…”
"You're going to break it, Sir."
"I'm fairly certain it doesn't work like that."
