FALLOUT - The Other Player
fallout fans fighting over if coop and lucy are romantic partners or father/daughter and i'm just like. can they not just be friends? its exhausting seeing a guy and gal duo in media and watching people immediately force them into the romance box or the family box. all i'm sayin is we need more platonic ghoulcy in this fandom.
hank maclean when i catch u.
y'all i cannot even summon an apology for this one
when the fallout episode actually has cooper face his own failures pre-war & post-war and think on his choices and what has led him to eternal isolation & the knowledge that even if his family is alive the chances are that they won't recognize him/won't want to be with him after what he's become (a senseless killer) and he will outlive them regardless, instead of having him aura farm and say some bullshit lines to make lucy seem slow to appeal to an audience of white dudebros who jerk off to todd howards picture & the women who wanna fuck him bc they see him as an empty trope canvas & not a story vehicle
I really did think the scene of Lucy punching Coop out that window was going to be comedic. Like he does a cool slow-motion fall only to crack his tailbone pathetically on the pavement and then they both yell at each other or something, but what we actually got instead was so... wow. The parallels. The gravity. The SCORE. It's gut-wrenching. Lucy doesn't even look fazed by what she inadvertently did to him when she comes up to that window. Just says "I thought we were friends" with that hurt, disgusted look on her face. Phenomenal.
Coop. Cooper. Buddy. You simply do not betray the woman who was just horrifically betrayed by her own father FOR her father. There's a type of doublethink going on in Coop's head leading up to this scene, and it's sprinkled all throughout this season: on the one hand, he methodically, knowingly strings her along until he has her where he wants her - to be bargained off and exchanged for his family - and on the other, she is genuinely the first person in 200 years he's spent a prolonged amount of time with. She's the first friend-shaped thing he had going on ever since the bombs dropped, the first person who might make him feel a little human again. That's why he needs to drink before and during the betrayal. He hates doing this shit to her, but in the end, she's a small price to pay for 200 years of fruitless searching and agony and uncertainty. He needs his closure.
Too bad he got so caught up in his own melancholy - and perhaps also, in part, in underestimating her - that his whole plan bites him in the ass spectacularly. GG Coop, I cannot WAIT to see how you're gonna get out of this one
Shipping The Ghoul and Lucy when both characters have black love interests feels very… hmm
will: he was my tammy and that’s okay 🏳️🌈
literally everyone in the room except for robin (and steve): who the fuck is tammy. why are we crying
VOL. 2 SPOILERS
overall, this was really disappointing. i feel like the quality of writing has significantly decreased since the beginning of this show. the character dialogue is corny, the constant character monologues explaining plans or lore, and overall the dumbing down of characters is very apparent.
WILL/COMING OUT SCENE: i just think that this was underwhelming and confusing?? will has this entire arc in episode four about gaining confidence and then the writers just immediately take it back and he’s no confident anymore. i get vecna scared him but like what…
then will comes out and it’s just ugh. i am not really understanding this at all. mileven isn’t solid (el is about to kill herself even tho she just criticized hopper for doing the same thing), wills character is a fucking mess i don’t think byler is happening.
in the coming out scene, will mentions tammy in a way to find confidence in himself but yet he still has little to NO confidence. so it just seems fucking pointless to even have him go on this beautifully written character arc in volume one just to be practically dropped in the second one.
there is so much going on yet nothing at all!!!! mike makes no fucking sense either like he’s just there.
also (side note) how did the fucking goo just magically stop melting in the jancy scene???? it’s never explained????? their relationship would’ve been better if they had just been killed off can i say that??
this show’s biggest flaw is that it has become too big. everything is upscaled to be the most dramatic, action-packed, and fast paced that the writing and storyline suffers because of it. the writers have this incredible story and plot behind it but the execution (so far) has been poorly done in my opinion.
there's still an entire finale there's still an entire finale there's still an entire finale there's still an entire finale there's still an entire finale there's still an entire finale there's still an entire finale
