Where we were and how far we have come...
We have found ourselves in difficult times here lately and I know it has taken a huge toll on not just our relationship but who we are individually. We have recently experienced many emotions and feelings we were not prepared for but even though times of struggle we have persevered. During these difficult times both of us have experienced doubt, aggravation and at times anger.Ā
I was looking through our files to find some papers and came across some other items of importance I had put away long ago. When I began going though them I couldn't help but to cry. What i found was a lot of reminders of the life we had before we met, during the first months of dating and now with our baby boy. I think we have allowed ourselves to be defeated long enough and it's time we remember how far we have both come.Ā
I hope as you see these special memories I have documented. I hope they give you the reassurance and hope they have given to me...

It did not take long for us to realize how much we had/have in common so it was no surprise that we hit it off so well. We made it a point to always have fun together even if that meant sitting in my car for hours talking about life...(then realized the sun was coming up) Ā
I know that when i met you, you were in a hard time in your life after losing one of your best friends.... It was me you turned to for advice and someone to lean on. With no car and no job it seemed you would never pull yourself back up again.. but somehow I was able to talk my place of work into hiring you and putting you on the same shifts as me....you see.. we made it work..
I'll never forget trying to hide the fact we were dating during our shifts.. i'd sneak a smile every now and then and you would do the same. and after a while we got ballsy enough to sneak a kiss when nobody was looking ;) It was funĀ
At times my shifts were quite longer than yours and I know it was torture sitting in my car waiting on me to clock out.. but i loved the doodles and love notes you would make for me. <3 You see....we made it work.
Lucky enough for the both of us.. we kind of have a passion for the packers. I loved being able to share that interest with you and still to this day I cannot wait for another season of football with my favorite cheesehead.Ā
Your very first college football game. And at the turning point of a huge change in our lives. If you can recall... I was drinking water... ;)Ā
The process of finding a job wasn't an easy one and caused quite a bit of worry and doubt for the two of us.. but you never gave up and it was a work in progress and we didn't give up or let ourselves be defeated.Ā
At this point we were expecting a little baby boy... you were looking for a better job.. and we were trying to plan out where we live and if we would be able to make it happen before the baby arrives. It was hard.. but you found a great job which allowed us to put money down on an apartment.. and then.. the next stage in our life begun.. see we made it work..
And we picked out items we both loved to furnish our apartment. And had it not been for you and your hard work and long hours (and some help from family) we wouldn't have such nice things.. everything was coming together for us..Ā
We worked hard.. and created a beautiful little home for ourselves.. and I was so happy that finally there would be no more couches or staying random places.. you had a home... and I'm so glad it was with me, Our home.
Though it was difficult adjusting to living together at times.. we did.. Ā
We can still agree to disagree ;)Ā
It's a wonderful thing you love Tim Burton because if not you may have been a little disturbed at my love for the dark and goth dolls and movies I had. But again.. it worked.
Also a good thing I dont mind the "kid" in you. And besides what other way to decorate our living room? right?
This day in particular I will never forget; the day we found out that we would welcome to our new home our son, Iver. And the moment we stepped outside of the doctors office we both hugged one another and both cried. Ā
We had settled in and getting prepared for the biggest life changing event for the both of us.. Ā With no idea what to expect, we were eager parents.. and honestly... I think we did pretty well... and I have to admit we rock at parenting... ;)
On April 6th 2014 our beautiful little boy, Iver Donan Callahan-Cauthen. It was a tough delivery but with you next to me; it was somewhat a little more bearable. You were so sweet and good to me throughout that process and I couldn't have asked for a better father to our child than you. He deserves you and you him. Ā
Don't you remember looking at him thinking "he is perfect"?
We were in heaven. It was was a beautiful Ā experience. One I would relive over and over again. But each and everyday is a new experience with him and everyday we are learning. So each day Is just as exciting as the last. I look forward to all of these milestones with you and him.
After our pretty lengthy hospital stay it was time to go home. and take our son home. ;)

The first few weeks at home were a little stressful. We were very new at being parents and taking care of a newborn was very tiring. And I can remember thinking.."wow.. our apartment went from being very "cool" atmosphere to a full on nursery" We adjusted and made it work...

Now we are just living life trying to be the best parents we can be. ... we are still... making it work!!
I know that lately we have felt pretty down and out about stressful things we are going through.. but I hope we do well to remember one thing.. that we are in this together.. and that we love each other very much. When the going gets tough.. i can promise you one thing... I will always be there at the end of the day and if we stick together I know we can get through anything. I love you Ryan, and our little Iver. We are a team. And we got this.
