what other drugs was izzy into?
most people know that izzy did quite a lot of heroin and coke while in LA, pre sobriety
growing up he says he got into drugs and alcohol young, like middle school. Glue sniffing and weed
there’s a funny story he tells about a job he had pre-GNR making wooden cabinetry for boats, and how he was offered shrooms during his lunch break by a fellow stoner
he took the whole handful of them, started tripping and laughing constantly and he got fired the next day 😂

“Roger was married at the time to Annica—I don’t know if I should mention names—and I believe Izzy and Annica hooked up.”
“Izzy and Roger were really good friends. They knew each other for quite some time, but apparently there were some shots fired in the hills of Hollywood near Izzy’s residence or where he was staying at the time. And apparently people say it might have been someone in the The Throbs. Then, ironically enough, The Throbs are not going on tour with Guns N Roses…”

coke was everywhere in LA so I dunno when he started to use it heavily. Probably when the band got some money. He said he wasn’t moderate with drugs and alcohol so if coke was around he wanted ALL of it
The worst time for his addiction was after they finished touring Appetite - end of 88 and first half of 89
He was edited out of a lot of the Patience MV bc coke made his face numb and was dripping from his nose making him look ‘wretched’ (Alan Niven’s words)
Steve Tyler from aerosmith helped him kick his habit. He warned izzy abt hallucinating which he started to experience. They would talk on the phone abt their damaged septums 💀poor babies 😆
