Mill Canyon Dinosaur Tracksite, one of the most important sites of its kind in North America, has been partially destroyed by the Utah Bureau of Land Management. The tracksite previously contained over 200 trace fossils representing a myriad of prehistoric species, including various dinosaurs and ancient crocodilians, all dated to the Early Cretaceous.

What has transpired goes in violation of the Paleontological Resources Preservation Act and the Center for Biological Diversity is filling a Freedom of Information Act request to the Utah BLM in regards to the incident. In the meantime, I encourage folks to spread the word about this, and to contact the Moab BLM field office to voice your concern over what has been done.

Today the Utah Bureau of Land Management’s Moab Field Office held a Zoom meeting regarding how they manage resources, wherein the public could make comments + ask questions. Those who attended and inquired about the incident at Mill Canyon were either ignored or outright lied to:
