thinking about the 1975 today and what it was like to be 12 years old. sometimes i miss walking home in the rain. with earbuds that only half work from the local dollar tree, listening to them on youtube, or pandora if i was lazy. the rain would make it hard to touch my phone, putting my backpack over my head as a shield. thinking about how stupid i must look as i walk down the street all my friends lived on. how jealous i was they all lived together and i, lived only a few more blocks away. i miss a time when these were the only things upsetting me. i would listen to lana del rey’s unreleased songs on youtube with no idea until years later when i finally got a jailbroken spotify that they were unreleased. i always thought how crazy it was that she wouldn’t put these out on real streaming services, how ive never made anything even half as good. my writing was childish, because i was a child. if i wrote the things she wrote, i would’ve wanted everyone to hear.

i still listen to unreleased lana on youtube, and today i’m playing the 1975 at the cafe i work at while it rains outside. life is strange. i like it.
