Genuinely shocked by the dearth of posts about Obsession here - this is the first movie in a while that I feel really captured the specific horror inherent to the softboy misogynist. The way Bear is pathologically incapable of sacrificing his own comfort or safety to make up for his repeated and casual breaking of Nikki's agency is so much more true to life than, like, serial killer sexists or outright monster patriarchs (though those have their place). In a movie where so much is exaggerated and brought to screaming genre heights, the scariest parts of this movie for me were so often the regular and expected actions of a sad, lonely man
