Look, I know travelling the world and living communally is El’s immediate post-Golden Enclaves future, but I’m just saying it would be hilarious if she decided to take a minute out to build herself a little cottage enclave (think, like, the sage’s house that is at the heart of the original Beijing enclave) and the universe keeps pointedly shoving her in the direction of a very small ruined castle that is 90% tower and on sale for the half the price of a London studio flat because it’s in the middle of Fuck Off, Nowhere.
El: I could have a vegetable patch. Somewhere to store my stuff and kid (she canonically wants one and it would probably be the reason why she would make the jump to not living in hostels and on her friend’s couches).
The universe: look, it’s not exactly the tower of Sauron, but you could fix it up! Chuck it in the void, add a bit of perpetual storm above, maybe some spikes that you could hang your slain foes upon…?
El: no! But on the other hand, it is cost effective and it comes pre-gutted…
The tower: 😊 I’ve got five hundred years of structural stability going for me?
I love the idea of El trying to figure out how to live a homely life. Maybe not for the rest of her life, but just for a year or two. Even before the Scholomance, she didn't have much chance to be just an average person accepted as part of an everyday society. Grocery shopping, talking about the weather, sorting out fence repair, mailing packages, saying Hi and How are you? to people on the sidewalk.
I think she would love the chance to be someone's mildly interesting neighbor who they talk with about the local bus schedule and a lost cat. Accepted, but for once not special.
If everything goes according to plan, I might get an internship by the end of next week. It’s scary, but also exciting. Either way, it’s important to my resume, so… Fingers crossed!
Today, I - a grown woman, a tax attorney, a masters' student - made the down payment on my very own apartment.
(I don't think I got that internship?)
Reblog and put in the tags what’s the stupidest injury you’ve ever had
Hi friends -- longest time no see, it's a rough rough world out there, and I hope you're all being extra kind to yourselves during this awful era we've entered.
I'm popping back in after a hiatus to say that surprise! I have another romance novel out in the world. A CERTAIN STEP is a best friends to lovers Broadway workplace romance that's set on the backdrop of a spicy Pride and Prejudice musical called Midnights at Pemberley.
The book is available on Kindle Unlimited, e-book form, and paperbacks wherever books are sold!
Dude let me in and other arts related to Monster Heather You know, Heather is a lady and stuff… But she’s also a bayou witch so this is also a normal state for her INFORMATION ABOUT HER & HER WORLD CAN BE FOUND HERE: >>> https://www.patreon.com/posts/i-want-to-remind-81362385 <<<
>> ADDITIONAL INFORMATION IS HERE << And by the way, this post features arts that are connected to Heather’s world. Few words about the last art: along many bad things the man has done, he was hired to murder a woman and her kid. And he agreed - and got away with it. Actions have consequences. And sometimes, when justice wasn’t served properly, Heather fixes this little mistake.

Do not tag as your OC please. She’s been with me since 2014 and I love her a lot.

Lady Silence
(and yes I redesigned Tuunbaq because I didn't much care for its show design)
some bear insides progress shots under the cut
i keep seeing that post about how frustrating the buff guy -> petite girl type genderbending is, and i wanted to add my two cents regarding the addition of ‘just swap pronouns and don’t change the design’ approach because i think these are two sides of the same coin, as they both fail to really delve into what i think is the most interesting aspect of this design exercise.
the reason i find genderbending to be such a fun and interesting challenge is because, if you actually want to be good at it and put thought into it, you have to really consider the character’s canon gender expression and think about what it means to them and how it reflects in their outward appearance and presentation.
is this male character buff because he likes to work out / be strong, or does he aspire to achieve conventional heteronormative male beauty?
is this female character a tomboy because she likes to express herself in a more masculine way, or is she doing it to fight gender norms?
the answers to those questions should produce very different designs!
this website loves to say that gender is a spectrum, but sometimes i genuinely wonder if people actually understand what that means.
gender expression, much like gender, is also a spectrum, which is why keeping the character exactly the same won’t always work, in the same way that just making the character conventionally attractive won’t always work. but sometimes, a buff dude would actually just be a hot girl. lady bane, however, would 100% look exactly the same.

i love truck stops in winter bc i love a little good old fashioned reconnaissance. i’m at a wyoming truck stop eating taco bell with a bunch of random truckers discussing road conditions like we’re in a high fantasy tavern & inn and we’re warning each other about monsters and highway men. everyone talking about where we’re coming from and going to and how bad it’ll be getting there.
THE tallest man i’ve ever seen in real life just stopped me in the hallway by the coin operated laundry apropos of nothing and asked “which direction are you going?” i said east and he said “good” and walked away.
i caught up with him and asked why and he said “west’s no good right now. i just came from there.”
apparently a truck jackknifed and has traffic backed up ten miles but he sounded for all the world like he just found his village raised to the ground by an evil mage’s army
...it's super cool in a 'historian with goosebumps' kind of way that this whole experience is essentially timeless.
As long as we've had ROADS or even game trails this
very scene
has played out in brush shelters, shrines, taverns, inns, post stations, and hotel lobbies.
Humans, out upon the Ways, where danger may be, sharing information because we live when we cooperate and share and we all know it out there.
“Many people seem to think it foolish, even superstitious, to believe that the world could still change for the better. And it is true that in winter it is sometimes so bitingly cold that one is tempted to say, ‘What do I care if there is a summer; its warmth is no help to me now.’ Yes, evil often seems to surpass good. But then, in spite of us, and without our permission, there comes at last an end to the bitter frosts. One morning the wind turns, and there is a thaw. And so I must still have hope.”
— Vincent Van Gogh
“If I am worth anything later, I am worth something now. For wheat is wheat, even if people think it is a grass in the beginning.”
