mocha colored hues glance over the draft for a moment , certainly an impressed look taking hold of tanned features . “ and you designed all of this yourself ?? ” asked in a genuinely curious tone , moving her attention to the aries . the answer seemed a bit obvious , considering it is HIS dream home after all , but still . “ well , complicated or not , i think it’s gonna come out great honestly . have you already started or is still still in the planning stages ?? ” 

a small smile settles on his face at the reaction, genuine pride lighting up his features for a brief moment. he’s been working on the plan for his house for years now, changing things here and there as his dreams change, but it’s nice to feel like someone else sees the potential in it. “over a lot of years, yeah. i had an old buddy help me with some of the architecture bits, like load-bearing walls and what not, but most of it is my own work.” he gives a little nod. “i’ve started. it’s not much yet, just a foundation and the start of a few walls, but baby steps, you know?”

“trust me, i wouldn’t sit next to someone who smells like whiskey and depression by choice.” jay snapped. it was safe to say that she was aggravated that night. a guy ran out of the club after she gave him a lap dance and she never got her money. meaning, she rubbed all over a greasy, sweaty, smelly, guy for nothing. this man’s attitude definitely wasn’t helping her mood. “sorry, bad day.” she apologized before ordering a coke.

“really? here i thought eau de fuck off was exactly what all the ladies were into these days.” god knows that if he had a therapist - which he certainly fucking does not - the first thing they’d tell him would be to work on his attitude towards other people. the second would probably be attempting sobriety followed by eating on any form of a regular daily schedule. as it is, interacting with almost anyone feels like having a bad allergic reaction. “bad day and you’re having a coke? sounds like self loathing to me.”

he’s a regular, sure, but somewhere along the past year or so, her ability to be bothered with people other than herself has dwindled more than a little. maybe not the best thing when it comes to the customer service industry, but she’s good enough at her job that her boss isn’t about to throw a fit anytime soon. “well, damn, kit, that’s good, ‘cause there’s not another option unless you want someone else to indulge your day drinking. i mean, god forbid you give your liver a break,” she hums, but it’s a callous joke more than a real insult. god knows she drinks just about as much as her patrons most of the time.

“clearly you don’t need a sense of humor either,” cass grumbles, rolling her eyes. maybe it’s not the best idea on the planet to get sassy with a potential client, but she doesn’t have much of a filter or a boss to get mad at her, so she doesn’t hold back. “i’ve been tracking the patterns of spree and serial killers across the country for the past six years, all by myself, outside of the system and all that red tape they like to choke people with.” she doesn’t look like much, sure, but she knows what she’s doing. “you wanna fill out paperwork for the next ten months while your pal sets up a nice vacation home in cancun, you call the cops. you wanna catch the bad guy, you call the scooby gang.”

        “ sounds very beauty and the beast. what does that make me, belle ? i feel like i’m pretty enough, ” he replies, an amused smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. he isn’t fazed in the slightest by cambria’s defensiveness; as easygoing as he is, the sharpness in her posture rolls off his back like water. “ plus, you know, saying he’s not a super villain sounds very much like something someone would say about a super villain, but i’m more than happy to mind my own business. ” 

“if you’re belle, who am i? lumiere? or maybe i’m the beast and my dad is the witch or whatever. i’m pretty terrifying, right? do you feel intimidated?” some days, maybe she does feel trapped in the house, trapped under her dad’s thumb, but she’s never admitted that out loud and she’s not about to start anytime soon. “and if i said he was a super villain, you’d be way more curious. there’s no winning, really. i just know he’d be pissed so i’m not looking to be the cat curiosity killed.”

it’s a nice cafe with cute indie music playing, a tired twenty-something behind the counter and tacky little plaques up on the walls - just the sort of place sienna doesn’t frequent anymore. today, however, was an early morning after a long night of enjoying herself, so she needed an extra dose of caffeine before headed off to do her errands. a tip of a flask supplements the coffee when she thinks no one can see, but the sound of a cough behind her proves that wrong. “if you ask nicely, i’ll share.”

it wasn’t the first time a bar patron had confessed their undying love for sienna, but the terrible poetry that accompanied the confession did make it the funniest by far. maybe it was rude to laugh the way she had, maybe she didn’t care and she definitely wasn’t going to fall for any confessions of love - stupid or not. still chuckling to herself as the man scampers off, she turns her attention towards another patron. “jesus fucking christ, did you hear that guy? i hope someone was recording that shit.”

in this verse, he would do anything in the world for his brother. from the time they were children, that was clear as day and so when their parents turned on his brother, it should have been no surprise that they packed their bags together. a year on the road turned into five, into ten into fifteen before fate finally forced them to settle down. his brother was stricken ill and so he worked day and night to save up money for treatment, but it wasn’t enough. when he was left alone for the first time in his life, he forgot everything he was. now he does what he can for other people in memory of his brother, but refuses to let anyone as close as he had been.
