Jaune is Evilmaxxing, this is supported by the simple notion that his pauldrons are slightly larger than before.

The Prime Pauldron Theory, is represented by the simple formula of

Evil = Σ[Αρ + Previous Angst]

Evil being equivalent to the sum of the Surface Area of the paundrons and any previous angst.

The side-by-side comparison supports the much larger surface area. As you can see, the new design on the left has a much larger profile than the previous design on the right.
