Influence: The Fractsidus
Crescent, one of the Fractsidus Overseer known as The Defier, the one to form a connection with the whole world around her and yet chose to become its oblivion.
Graceful and yet lethiferous are her moves as she forgets herself in an elegant dance, bringing what is dead to life and what is yet alive to death. Despite being granted the ability to morph the frequencies to any of her likes, the only path she chose was decay and only decay.
Opalescent Everlasting Glow
Crescent — Original Outfit
One of the few outfits Crescent prefers to keep as it was tailored specifically for her with the use of fabrics that aren't produced anymore. A silver trinket there and a chain here enough to make her stand out among her colleagues as she drives the world to its perfect end.
A sweet treat that was previously famous in the old village of Crescent. Fit for a quick bite and both savory which made it a great snack for any possible time, alongside with the variety of different fillings. Easy to make and easy to eat.
Forte Examination Report - Iridescent Oblivion
Evaluation Basis: [Resonance Assessment RA-F2007-G]
The exact timing of Resonator Crescent's Awakening is unclear. Her Awakening granted her the ability to manipulate the frequencies surrounding her, whether it's an inanimate being or a living creature.
Crescent's Tacet Mark is located right on the middle of her clavicle. Post-Awakening examination has identified specific alterations in her physical attributes. These include her hair color from jet black to pristine white and a strange unidentified mark across her left cheek.
The Resonance Spectrum Pattern of Crescent mirrors no known patterns completely. Further testing revealed a 25% exceeding similarity of another sample, marked as "Void Plenilune". Further investigation of the samples required alongside a study of the exact trigger for the Resonator's Awakening.
Resonator Crescent possesses the unique ability to manipulate the frequencies of all objects around ber to whatever state she desires either via touch or not. Exact parameters of the range of this ability was not recorded and assumed to be 30 meters radius at minimum. Another peculiar characteristic of her Forte is the ability to revert frequencies' state from decay to flourish and opposite, effectively bringing previously dying creatures back to life. Further research demonstrated repeated use of such ability on one object.
Analysis of test samples has revealed a consistent, flat Rabelle's Curve followed by a sharp ascent and stabilization. Therefore, Crescent is identified as a Mutant Resonator.
[OVERCLOCK DIAGNOSTIC REPORT]
Resonator Crescent's waveform graph shows sawtooth fluctuations. The pattern of Time Domain is regular, and the peak values start at the beginning of the pattern and stay constantly high.
Resonant Criticality: Relatively low.
Resonator Crescent has a documented history of Overclocking with several cases reaching "extremely severe" tier, however, despite all that Resonator Crescent had no permanent damage from each case. Further research on the records alongside a proper examination required.
"Scream With Despair — One, Two, Three!"
Crescent. She became the blessed child of her village after that fateful night she gained her Awakening. The same fateful night when miles away from her, Sentinel Jué defeated the Threnodian and yet, the work was done already. Being captivated by the horrifying and yet captivating look of the once so powerful Void Plenilune, as soon as the horrifying wave of clashing frequencies reached her, it seemed to envelop her completely, forcing Crescent to drop to her knees and break into a coughing fit before she ran to the small house left by her parents and immediately locked the door, only now realizing that it was the strange Waveworn Phenomenon that people of her village mentioned.
After rather quickly calming down, she slowly rose and glanced at the only mirror and nearly collapsed, shaken by her own image. Her once lustrous black hair changed its hue to a glimmering white and a strange small Tacet Mark was glowing right in the middle of her clavicle. In panic, she couldn't understand what happened to her. Did she suddenly turn sick? Was it her hallucinations? She couldn't understand before running outside and stumbling upon a small bird that still stayed up despite the night. Seeing something that was finally familiar, Crescent gently picked up the creature only to watch it suddenly shriek and drop dead as it seemed to turn into a Cruisewing. The already scared child that Crescent was started panicking even more before she tried to concentrate and all of a sudden, the morphing corpse was brought back to its previous state, chirping heavily. Dropping the bird and letting it fly away, Crescent stumbled backwards, mumbling to herself.
"B.. But I didn't want it to die.. What's going on? What happened to me? No, no, I need to wait until tomorrow and ask the elders about all this.."
A large thud was heard. And yet another one soon. The silent house where Crescent was sitting all alone was often visited by the other villagers who seemed to go straight to her in case of any major problem. And of course, as someone who cherished all those who she grew up with, Crescent couldn't refuse a single request. Even if she was exhausted, even if she felt powerless, even if she felt disgusted by the whole picture in front of her — she continued working. When her close ones spread word about her divine ability to manipulate frequencies into various matter and state, the visits to her house became even more often.
After a while, a horrifying case was brought upon her eyes. Instead of a casual pet, animal or an Echo that she was asked to bring back, Crescent saw a corpse in front of her. A child corpse. At first, she couldn't bear it and even tried to reject any pleads only to hear the wanderer beg for help and speak of how famous she became among the vast lands. Eventually, Crescent gave in and brought the body to her guest room, setting it onto the soft padding and asking for any items of the child where residual reverberations could be also left. Looking at the small toys and then at her arms, she looked back, her glare nearly piercing the guest of her house.
— Such tremendous help is not for free. I expect generous payment which won't be Shells only, but also prayers to the Sentinel for my well-being. — she spoke, her voice calm and collected.
Upon completing her work, she watched as the once cold body started becoming warmer. The heart once again beating and the child soon opened his eyes, coughing heavily before Crescent instantly helped him up and looked through all vitals. For the very first time, instead of bringing back a lower creature she effectively "rewind" human frequencies even it took her much longer.
Of course, for such hard work she was paid generously but even that wasn't enough for her. She raised the prices and the clients were still there. She said that she required more time to restore her strength and people still waited, stay in her village. She looked at herself in the mirror and at the Tacet Mark. Three. Two. One. She screamed. She shouted with all the despair that was in her body to the brim until she couldn't no longer. She breathed heavily and heard knocking on the door, of course, her dearest close ones would want to check up on her.
And so, she put on a soft smile. She restored her voice through a cough and brought back her normal look. She couldn't let herself break down. She couldn't give up that easily. She needed to prove even to herself that she was the one who will be always tugging the strings of her fate and not anyone else.
"'Eternity' Was a Short Word"
The night was coming just as she finally finished with the last client for today and went searching around her old house for the only mirror that she hid a long time ago. Crescent was quite meticulous about her appearance as she did all she could to make sure that her youthful and charming look stayed with her even if it meant hours upon hours of self care. But today it was different. Today she was going through all her belongings until she finally found that damned mirror and looked at herself. There it was — she was getting older terribly fast even if she expected to stay youthful and bright as a resonator.
Crescent's grip became harder as she stayed still and kept glaring at herself. It wasn't in her plans. It was never in her plans and any of the possible outcomes she imagined. Of course, she had to act fast and usual make-up wouldn't help this time. Everyone would be telling her to embrace it and keep on telling her that she's beautiful, but that's not what she wanted. What she wanted was eternal life, even if it meant trying so hard that she might eventually break down. She had no one to reach out to, no help, never knew a single route anywhere and had no idea what to do until one peculiar thought crossed her mind as she set the mirror away.
"Use your own Resonance Ability on yourself."
And it was a brilliant idea until she actually tried and yelped from pain. Each and every sensation brought her pain to the point where she gasped air and fell to the ground, shaking and breathing heavily, her eyes wide open. By stars, how could she know that attempting such on herself would actually break her down? Unfortunately, she wasn't done yet. Once the trembling in her body was gone, she once again hugged herself tightly, letting the strange flowing streams of white and scarlet energy envelop her tightly and gritted her teeth, trying to withstand the pain as much as possible before another yelp escaped her lips. No, she couldn't do this. At least not now and not today. Her muscles were sore and strained, her mind was foggy and she could barely understand what's going on and how to focus clearly. And in that state, as she barely made it to her own bed, Crescent lied down, immediately passing out right the next second.
The following several months, she spent each evening experimenting on herself, seeing how much she can handle and how far she can go. Every night was a test of strength which became progressively better even though she had to explain to her dearest ones that she was totally alright and her shouting didn't mean that she actually needed help. And after all, she made a huge step in her experiments. She looked down at her arms which were no longer trembling. She glanced at herself in the standing mirror, gently touching her face.
And there it was. The perfect youthful look, her scarlet eyes shining like two rubies and her white hair glistening in the radiant moonlight that broke through her window. Crescent smiled with genuine happiness for once in a long time, even if it reeked of madness, even if the reason was horrifying, she kept on smiling. No longer Crescent would fear the time itself and the decades that passed by her for now even spending an eternity in this damned world sounded more than short. All she knew is the vast potential of her actual Resonance Ability that she deeply needed to explore and the fact that time was no longer her enemy.
