When I first became CEO at age 29 , I prayed to God and asked my Father in Heaven to establish my Leadership. From that point on, all I saw looking out was endless possibilities.
I told myself , the only thing that would stop me from going after my dreams would be myself. I was focused , determined and unrelenting on what I planned to achieve. First goal was to establish brand ASCO and second was to invest in our own trucking fleet.
My dad had told me he wanted to go into trucking earlier but had gotten so much negative feedback about peoples experiences that he decided not to invest in trucks using bank financing.
My response was : what if we bought them with internally generated funds? , my dad gave his approval.
That year we worked , we prayed and God gave us the harvest.
We bought our first 3 trucks without a dollar from the bank. All of it was internally generated. My brother and I were unstoppable. We just dared to dream. We just said look, we are going to do this our way , our style.
ASCO transport department was birthed.
We may not be the wealthiest or biggest but we are very proud of our humble beginnings. We laugh about how people thought and still think ASCO is a foreign company . ASCO is wholly Ghanaian, we realized how our own people shortchange Ghanaian excellence. To be honest the biggest breaks weāve gotten have mostly come from foreigners who measure our services on value and nothing else. Our own people rarely give us a chance but we soldier on. However, there are also some great Ghanaians who have been instrumental in our journey, they appreciate our zeal and encourage us often and support us in various ways.
Your dream is yours to fulfill. Your dream will not move unless you do. If you continue to count what you donāt have at the expense of what you do have , you will achieve nothing.
I continue to take steps towards my dreams using what I have and not counting what I donāt have. Iām not moved by what I donāt have but Iām strengthened by whatās in me. I am a child of God, Iām Africaās Titan. I hope my journey inspires you to take action on your dreams. Take that step now..
