after the pilot i watched a couple of reviews to hear other ppls takes on it and rewatch a few times n the point that dave's tone being different or downright ooc being brought up in multiple povs had me looking into a bit! dave has been casted in multiple scenarios to be this monotone, level headed guy, with a hardpressed mask that he uses to enforce the idea that hes the cool guy™. hes always shown to us with stoicism and under levels of irony, especially when we are only seeing him through text. but i noticed something little and i wanna know thoughts about it:

dave has his narrator turned off? and he casually kicked his typed name away (he might not have even seen it)

dave has always been the symbol of cool: he slices his nameplate in half, he hardly smiles or emotes in his introduction and mostly throughout Act 1, and in both the narrator and his own internal monologues hes the badass. but i dont know if there is a narrator to use his mask for here? his first appearance isnt isolated alone in his room in the pilot, its in the middle of his excited first message to john. it seems as though hes' comically well aware of his place in the story (as dave is) but he doesn't seem to toughen up to the camera, if anything he is mostly acting nonchalant in his conversations with john. there could be a reason as to why he doesn't seem as in character in this pilot, and i feel its a poke or hint to how characters will react to the fourth wall.

does john know the camera follows him the most? do the rest of the characters know? this new medium seems so fun to explore :]

Creo que Dave era MUY capas de esconder la mierda que pasaba en su casa, por eso Rose y John (no estoy tan segura sobre Jade) no sospechaban gran cosa sobre eso.

AME a Dave, porque yo y todos sabemos que es un tonto, que quiere fingir que es el más genial y con capas de ironía. Pero esta también es su mascara, no solo ser "estoico", "frio", inalcanzable.

De hecho en el piloto, en sus selfis y fotos, se puede ver esta faceta que quiere aparentar.

Quizás vemos así a Dave ahora porque es como John lo percibe o porque es como quiere ser percibido por John.
