the thing about those ooc "woooooooow this show is so deep" quotes from bojack horseman is that they strip away the absurdity of the scenario in a way that makes it come off like weird therapy-speak when like 99% of the time the joke is someone suddenly saying something super eloquent and serious in the middle of some crazy shit.

like everyone quotes the "sometimes i think i was born with a leak, and all the goodness i was born with slowly dripped out" line but no one mentions that he says it to vincent adultman, a character who no one notices is clearly three children stacked on top of each other in a trench coat. who then says "dont be sad, nice horsey!" and pets him with his broom/hand

Samantha Goes to Elefante

My late grandmother was a big fan of dinner theater. In fact, she died during the third act of a production of Madame Butterfly at a Japanese restaurant in the Valley. I, on the other hand, am not a fan of dramatics with my dining, which is why I am giving my lowest rating EVER to Elefante, the restaurant owned by mildly successful 90s sitcom actor BoJack Horseman. 

The food was…well, somewhat fantastic, but at one point during the experience I witnessed Mr. Horseman himself fighting loudly with a pink cat who I believe was his agent (or maybe his ex-agent after that little spat?). I also witnessed a member of the kitchen staff racing through the dining room WHILE IN FLAMES. Might I add that I also waited over 2 hours for my food? It was most frustrating.

One bright spot in the meal: The air freshener in the bathroom was cloying and reminded me my grandmother, the one who died at that Japanese restaurant in the Valley.

So, I drew this back in October 2021 but only shared it on the BoJack Horseman Reddit - I liked the idea of lining up the diamonds in Bojacks family tree, ending up with Hollyhock breaking away from their family trauma. I only realised after the sketch that Honey doesn’t have a diamond but I still wanted her to be at the top.
