I will be using these two quotes in my future Kickstarter project from my novel The Sensualist to emphasize the primary focus of modern Middle Eastern family culture through my main character's best friend and the struggle of beautiful inspiring people from living life to the fullest during post 911. Being racially profiled as terrorists with the guidance of Allah, pbuh, to stay strong. Inshallah!
Prologue Excerpt
Logan's Stepfather: "Get over here right now! Don't make me count ...," the belligerent man's voice was interrupted.
Logan: Count! Just fucking count, you dick! Stop treating me like a child! The only time you ever fucking count is when you sleep behind my mother's back! She doesn't deserve you! You're a fucking disgrace to men.
The silence grew with intense emotions built up inside. The man's face became a distinct red as he perspired from his forehead. The rage traveled up to his eyes as they grew wider and followed the loud exhaling sounds through his nostrils.
Logan's Stepfather: "Excuse me?" The man cleared his throat, and paused for a minute. "What did you just say to me?"
Logan: Don't act like you didn't hear me, asshole. You might have selective hearing, but you heard everything I just said. Would you like me to repeat it for you? You're a fucking disgrace if you call yourself a man. Do us all a favor, okay? Leave my family alone.
The man was speechless as his fists clenched together against the sides of his legs. The look in his eyes was weak with unstable emotions, but his intent was confirmed. He wanted to strangle the teen with his bare hands before the mother arrived home from work. The teen raised his middle finger high above his head as he turned around heading towards his room.
Logan: "You're number one, bro!" The teen slamed the door behind him. As the teen sat on the floor against the door, tears trickled across his face as he pulled the pocket knife out of his back pocket. The blade was sharp across the surface of his wrist, and the anticipation grew with fear and regret.
Logan: "I can't fucking do it," the boy said aloud as he hesitated to press further into his skin. "That prick isn't even worth a second of my life."
