Having little to no memories of the woman that brought her to this world was hard, but that didn’t deter Kendall from being a vivacious, curious child. For the first few years of her life, her father did his best to provide her with all the love and care that her mother would’ve wanted for her, nurturing her innate curiosity and daring nature. He was a busy man, but also a loving parent that spent as much time as humanly possible with Kendall, even if it meant redoing his office, only to build a playroom for his little girl to be by his side.
Those first years were rough, but somehow, father and daughter made it, until in came their saving grace. Kendall can still remember the kindness she found in the eyes of Yuan Chang when they met for the first time, and the little girl took to her almost immediately, fascinated by this new person that made her father smile again. The wedding came and went, and Kendall proudly became a Cohen-Chang. Still daring, still hungry to take on the world, and keeping the few mementos of her mother like treasures.
Growing up there was never a shortage of mishaps, the vivaciousness turned into mischievousness that landed her in more trouble than Kendall would ever admit, and even though she clearly possesses a brilliant mind, her thirst for the thrills of life has never diminished. An avid piano player, spending some time alone with music to unwind and recharge is something she doesn’t share openly, not for lack of trust, but a fierce protectiveness of what she considers her safe space.
On the flip side of things, the same privilege that afforded her to never want for anything became the very thing that would gradually twist her view of the world. With money came power, and Kendall had a limitless supply of it. There wasn’t a single mountain that couldn’t be moved for the right amount, and as she grew up, that capriciousness became dangerous. From the occasional indulgence in illegal substances and petty crimes, to having a small army of ‘mercenaries’ at her beck and call and the ability to ruin someone’s life shamelessly, money and power became her go-to ‘get out of jail free’ card, and she’s not shamed to use it. Her father has always been aware of this issue and turns a blind eye on it all, using his own influence to make sure his little girl’s record is always squeaky clean. Perhaps not the right thing to do, but Kendall is still his baby, and he only wants the world for her, even if it means supporting her to take it by force.
