every person ive ever suggested to that going through your partners phone not only invades their privacy but also the privacy of all the people who have possibly texted very personal things to them have acted like they genuinely never thought of that before

like how many of you have sent or received texts about mental or physical health issues on your phone. embarrassing problems like grades or money or hygiene. intricate details of family dynamics. you might want a no secrets type relationship but your partner has other people’s secrets to keep too lol

and even if you weren’t invading third parties privacy you shouldn’t do this to your partner either… if youre at the point where youre openly accusing your partner of cheating and demanding to go through their phone (so private and also such tedious work) youre not going to be able to rest at that. your relationship/your psychology has serious trust issues that aren’t going to be fixed by reading their texts once. in no time youll be wondering if theres something you missed, if they’re having a romance completely offline, or if they have a second phone or some shit. and now your relationship is worse because you introduced a surveillance element where you should have been communicating btw
