I just think it’s really funny that in the musical Darry sings, “That’s why I’m scrubbing this kitchen, why I’m singing this song,” when he is, in fact, NOT scrubbing this kitchen
the outsiders fandom gives darry so much grief for the *one* time that he snapped. so here are some things to remember:
he's 20. that's 2 in adult years.
his brain isn't fully developed.
he didn't *have* to take custody of his brothers. he loved his brothers enough to know he wanted them under the same roof as him.
pony and soda aren't the only ones who lost their parents. darry lost his parents too, he just had to hold it together for the sake of his brothers.
overworked, underpaid, and terrified of breathing the wrong way and having his family split further apart.
