Hi there! This blog has been heavily inspired by, if not ripped off, @problematic-maleslash-polls. He’s been a great help in setting up this blog, but has retired from polls so a big shoutout to him for inspiring my blog in the first place!
This blog is also the revival of @/problematic-cartoon-ships as the original account had gotten terminated by Tumblr. Rest in peace, little guy. And, as I doubt the original account will be restored to me in its former glory along with every submitted ship, we’re starting anew! Any ships submitted to the old account will be accepted here once again.

Problematic Reasons: Age gap, adult x teen, older man x younger girl. They have a 4 year age gap and they canonically got together between the ages of 16-20. Another reason why they are both over-hated (and when I say over-hated, I literally mean it) and deemed problematic by the English Shaman King fandom is because teen pregnancy: they canonically fucked while Jeanne was 16 and she got pregnant. They were both down bad for each other and loved each other so much. Also teen marriage too where Jeanne got married to Ren at 17 and in that same year (2007), she gave birth to their son

Shipping tropes: Age gap (obviously), Brooding boy x Gentle girl, Opposites attract, Height difference, Size difference, Sugar and Ice personality. RenMei is a very complex couple and it's a darn shame that's so overhated to death in the western Shaman King fandom <'3 I ship them so hard because they have a lot of things in common: Both had their entire childhoods ruined from the start (both comes from higher class and fucked up families) and were raised/brainwashed to become murderers for the upcoming Shaman tournament in order to win and basically become god of the world. Both were indoctrinated by hatred at young ages and love was never present throughout their childhoods. They both killed people in the beginning of the series but later on, both Ren and Jeanne saw the errors of their own ways and starts changing into better people and even atoning for their sins at some point in the series by dying (they later get revived like 2-3 times) Their goals ends up changing throughout the series and they both come to sharing the same goal: World Peace.
After the tournament ended, no one becomes god except Hao, who was hellbent on eradicating all humans out of existence so everyone went on their own separate missions, trying to improve humanity the best possible way they can in order to change their new god's mind. Ren sets off to go back to school in order to become a CEO of his own electric company while Jeanne reforms her entire extreme religious cult group into an charity organization (X-CHARITY) and going around the world to give aid and help countries and children that were suffering from war. While Ren and Jeanne are successful and in the process of improving the world, at the same time as they grow older, their guilt continues to haunt and eat away at their minds everyday and their self loathing (especially for Jeanne's case) gets worse. They have no one to confide about their trauma and problems so they keep it to themselves, thinking that this is the punishment that they both deserve for being murderers. I feel like teenage Jeanne would have a lot of suicidal thoughts and she would secretly cut herself and no one in the X-CHARITY notices this.
So anyways, Ren reunited with Jeanne roughly somewhere in 2005, Europe while he was attending college (Joint program) over there. He's made aware that her charity was popular in Europe and eventually later on, he ends up helping her out by funding her charity, making them more world wide famous ever then before thanks to his company and advanced technology. His company (LEIDI) and her charity would become affiliated with each other and they end up working together. I like to imagine they would have slow burn romance: they start off as business partners to slowly becoming friends after they bonded over their shared goals (world peace) to later learning more about one another and their histories. Also, I feel that Ren would be good for Jeanne, the same can be said for Jeanne. Their personalities mesh. They can both sympathize and empathize with each other and help each other open up because they know this is someone who understands and won’t judge them because of their similar childhoods and pains/traumas they both have in common.
They make such a massive positive influence and impact on each other’s life’s - Jeanne is Ren’s hero. She saved his life two times in the past. She inspires him and they both learn from one another, picking up each other’s traits, new found beliefs and influencing each other in the process (Ren becoming a Pacifist). She lights up and warms up his dark cold life and in return, Ren becomes more soft and gentle around her and he learns how to empathize/sympathize with others a lot more. She earns his respect as an equal, something no one else in the series can accomplish except Yoh. Ren is also Jeanne’s hero in many ways, he was one of the very first people to actually treated her like a normal human being and not some holy saint, he helps fund her charity organization and made them world-wide famous ever than before, he’s also someone that Jeanne can truly only fully be herself around and is the person she can confide herself to, letting out her true deepest feelings and sharing the same experiences she has with him. To Jeanne, Ren is her peace. Ren’s such a dynamic character who changes more than any other figure in the story, and it’s because of both Yoh and Jeanne but especially Jeanne. She has such a profound influence on him that I can’t imagine him being truly happy or satisfied without her, much less settling for anyone else.
In the end, they both fell in love and love ultimately saved the both of them (since they did afterall, started off as hateful children in the very beginning and it's really beautiful seeing how much they came a long way) Also another propaganda I like to add: just look at adult Ren man, look how dilfy he looks and his long hair gawd.... He's so goddamn smoking hot and sexy and he's 4 YEARS OLDER than Jeanne like that makes me so freaking feral. Dude is both a tsundere BUT BUT!!! he later softens and becomes a deredere around Jeanne and he becomes very "seme-y" around her lol. Jeanne on the other hand has grown up in a extreme religious cult all her life away from the world and she has deep down always wanted to know what it was like to live a normal life but she never got that until she was freed after she reformed her cult organization to a charity group after the tournament ended. I feel like when Jeanne reunited with Ren, a lot of dormant feelings within her opened and that sole thing being: her horny awakening. Think about it, she was raised all her childhood in a literal extreme religious cult and she was raised by puritans around her, shaming all and anything on sex and that sex is evil. But when she's older and reunited with Ren and ends up falling in love with him, she has a denial phase. Denying her crush for him and telling herself that this will eventually pass, tells herself that there's no way Ren has a crush on her (spoilers: he does) I like to imagine at some point, Jeanne visits Ren's apartment out from business reasons, only to see him shirtless and he just finished doing his usual training so he tells her to come in and wait for him while he goes off to shower. This was the beginning of her horny awakening lol. But eventually, Jeanne comes to terms with her feelings for Ren and that she ends up accepting that she does indeed, has romantic feelings for him and can't help but love him more and more. However because of her being a murderer and her self loathing issues, Jeanne does not act on her feelings and chooses not to pursue him or her happiness because she truly doesn't think she deserves to any happiness. So she decides that she will keep loving and supporting him from afar, and even if he were to find someone he loves and gets together with them, Jeanne will support him, even if it hurts. While Jeanne fell in love with Ren first, Ren on the other hand though, fell harder (and this is also very apparent in the other Shaman King sequel spinoffs where Ren was so depressed after Jeanne dies to the point he had suicidal thoughts and wanted to commit suicide, ending everything just to be with his wife) and pursues her romantically and even canonically confesses his love to her on his own free will.
So yeah, I think that's pretty much everything in my propaganda post section lol. TLDR: RenMei (Ren x Jeanne) is a very, very complex couple. If anyone had made it all the way to the end reading this and gained an interest in this ship, I highly recommend reading Shaman King, the guidebooks/interviews, the sequels and it's spinoffs because there is a lot to this couple.
Flapjack/Captain K'nuckles from “The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack”

Problematic Reasons: Minor/adult, large age gap, familial bond (kinda), toxic dynamics
Propaganda: They have a very complex friendship dynamic. Flapjack clearly cares deeply about K'nuckles, is very affectionate towards him and the show frequently jokes about his desire to forever stay by his Captain's side. It's even implied he wants to be his "queen" and one time Flapjack daydreams about them "finally being one" by theoretically getting combined with a wish. K'nuckles, meanwhile, seemingly is uninterested or even oblivious to his wishes. Despite being much older, he's often childish and immature, though he occasionally shows genuine fondness for the attention Flapjack gives him. More often than not, K'nuckles exploits Flapjack's innocence, persuading him to do various tasks that ultimately serve his own egoistic needs; usually in pursuit of candy. In despite of this, he's very dependent on Flapjack, should he admit it or not. K'nuckles has moments where he genuinely misses his company and cries after him. They are tied together in a very co-dependent way.

Hi! I remember answering a similar ask to yours in the previous version of this blog, but I can’t seem to find outside reblogs of it. It was very well written too. But I suppose this will have to do!
I find in other blogs, a majority of the votes tend to err on the side of “I don’t ship it” or the request in this ask. My blog is asking whether or not people ship it, not whether or not they know the media/characters in the poll. I’m hoping to have different fandoms see whether or not, their people, well, ship it! I sequester a space for the fandom to vote on their problematic ships. That isn’t to say people who don’t know the fandom can’t vote; feel free to vote based on the given propaganda or choose not to vote entirely if you’d prefer.

hey i'm thinking of making a similar blog to this one and am trying to figure out best practices for running it and tagging, may i ask why you avoid putting minor/adult ships in the main fandom tags and don't allow suggestive content in submissions, but don't have the same restrictions for, say, incest ships/ships that are problematic for other reasons? do antis with this blog just happen to harass more with the minor/adult ships or is it also more of a risk to be banned if antis report the blog for content relating to those ships? thank you if you answer!
Hey hi! First of all, I’d like to apologize for taking so long to reply to this ask. No excuses here; honestly, I’ve just let it sit in my drafts procrastinating it.
And I’m glad you’re on your own path towards running your own blog! A lot of what I’ve learned are from others in DMs, taking a lot of inspiration from other blogs again, and a lot of trial and error. Now onto the questions: This blog had gotten nuked before by Tumblr. Mainly, antis, but we got onto Tumblr’s radar by antis reporting and Tumblr decided to nuke this blog. So, I read through Tumblr’s guidelines to avoid being nuked again.
In Tumblr’s restrictions and guidelines, they don’t allow “suggestive or sexual content involving a minor or anyone that appears to be a minor.” So, that’s why I’ve put in those particular precautions of not allowing suggestive content in general because Tumblr seems to have the most issues with that.
As for not having the same restrictions on other problematic ships—I find that antis tend to have more of a problem with minor/adult ships. Not to say incest isn’t looked down upon in these groups, but I don’t think Tumblr cares as much for these reports when it’s between two adults.
So in short, both options! Antis tend to harass more with minor/adult ships, causing us to be at more of a risk to be banned. I hope this answer isn’t too late and that this is of use to you. Apologies for the sudden disappearance! I truly appreciate the patience you all have with me in getting to ship submissions. That being said, a few updates, reminders, and changes I’ll be smashing together into this post.
1) Fill every category properly in the Google Form submission.
An issue that keeps showing up is regarding image attachments. I will not find images for your ship. It takes time, a resource I am in shortage of, and it makes space for dissatisfaction to crawl in—wrong ship, incorrect characters, fanmade AU, etc. I also don’t mind sparse submissions, but having no tags or trigger warnings makes it difficult for me to post—especially if I’m not apart of the fandom.
2) Posting will happen every Sunday.
So far, posting everything all at once has been working instead of using a queue. So. I’ll let it build up until Sunday, then I make posts here all at once. Unless someone gives me feedback that this is the worst system ever, I’ll continue doing so. But in all seriousness, feedback is appreciated. Please. Don’t suffer in silence.
3) Underage ships will lack fandom tags.
Any ship that has a minor won’t be tagged with fandom tags. This is just a safety mechanism to avoid antis or others outside of our little circle from stumbling into this blog and attacking it. I’ve established this before, but I believe people miss this point.
4) Not sure? Ask questions!
Ways to ask me questions: DM on Tumblr, sending an ask on Tumblr, question directly embedded in your submission in the “Any comments, questions, requests, or inquiries? (Optional)” section of the Google Form.
Reading the Google Form’s rules and following them will only help your ship get submitted smoothly!
5) Now, if you’ve made it this far you may be wondering, why has Key not posted in so long? (Assuming you do care, of course.)
The answer is: college. Monday to Friday I am in lectures for 8 hours straight, and it gets exhausting. Unfortunately, a very boring reason. That’s why I’m hoping a Sunday schedule will help get this blog back on track!
In all honestly though, thank you all for your support. We’ve recently hit 100 followers and are still rising in number! This is such an awesome milestone to hit, and I couldn’t have done it without your courage to throw a ship out there to get voted on by the people of Tumblr. I’m sorry to have my first post in a while essentially scolding my audience, but despite it all, I do enjoy this. I enjoy reading the genuine passion in your submissions, and ships I wouldn’t have even recognized making it out there to be seen. This is what fandom is all about. Thank you all!

(eggman's grandpa made shadow and also his cousin is kinda like shadow's sister so shadow is kinda like his uncle and also his cousin but they aren't related since shadow was a test tube baby), lowkey toxic

IDK MAN after shadow faked his death? or like almost died or smth it was unclear in the show, eggman kept him in like a pod for six whole months and that put thoughts in my head were they good ones probably not but yk. also after shadow wakes up from his six month coma eggman is all like "if you work for me i'll tell u ur past" and shadow is all like "ok" and just like fully trusts him and becomes super weirdly loyal to him to the point it weirds rouge out and he continues hanging around eggman even after learning he was lowkey using him so. also shadow is like hella isolated and eggman is like one of the only people he regularly interacts with and it helps he's related to shadow's only real friend (maria).
Problematic Reasons: Ritsuka is an eleven year old boy at the beginning of the story, while Soubi is twenty years old. Soubi was also ordered by Ritsuka's brother to care for Ritsuka and to get close to him. Soubi assaults Ritsuka with unasked for kisses pretty often, too.
Propaganda: They're basically canon. That's not even a joke. They kiss a lot, Ritsuka canonically feels good-weird around Soubi, and Ritsuka feels safe and comfortable around Soubi.
Not to mention the whole master x pet thing that is built into their world, and that they are kinda forced to participate in(they have a fighting system that is sacrifice(master) and fighter(pet) and it's basically bdsm but mostly sfw.)
